Letter From David D Schreiber

February 28, 2020

Dear Brethren,

Over the last few years Jolinda and I have had the opportunity to have our grandchildren Ella and James stay with us overnight and our evenings have been filled with music, dancing, indoor picnics and games. What a joy grandchildren are! It is fascinating how they learn and how they imitate their parents. They learn by watching and repeating behavior and they learn by the words they hear.
I heard a story about a father and son who liked to play a game.  "I'll be daddy and you be John" the son John would say to his father.  During the game the little boy impersonated his dad.  John imitated the way his dad spoke to the dog and his mother. He would sometimes be rough and somethings loving.  He showed his father what he looked like in the eyes of his son.
A child learns by studying his parents.  We too are children of God and should be learning to imitate the actions of our Father.  We should be talking like He talks, walking the way He walks and copying the way He handles conflicts and love others the way He loves.
Scripture give us much guidance.
A new commandment I give to you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. (John 13:34) and
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you: continue in my love. (John 15:9)
As our older brother, Jesus Christ showed us how to imitate the Father because He imitated His Father and has given us an example.
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:  (I Peter 2:21)
We often quote the Apostle Paul who wrote: Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. (I Corinthians 11:1)
Let us go forward, being mindful that others are watching us, just as some did the Apostle Paul and may we carefully follow in our Father's footsteps.
Have an inspiring Sabbath,
Dave

Scriptures to read:
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forward to those things which are before.  I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13-14)
