Letter From David D Schreiber

September 20, 2019

Dear Brethren,

We usually get a sense of "Feast Fever" when we feel the cool fall evenings approaching.  Not this week.  It's been a hot one hasn't it?  However, I heard cooler temperatures are coming next week - right on time for the Fall Holy Day Season.

I have a question for you.

Have you had the opportunity to visit the cemetery where George Washington is buried?  Since he was one of the greatest men of American history and became known as the "father of our country" you might expect a huge gravestone to properly identify the resting place of this tremendous man.

On that gravestone you might anticipate many striking truths concerning this giant of history. He was after all, the commanding General of the Continental armies and the very first President of the United States.

But you might be surprised. If you stood before his burial place you would actually see a small, simple, plain stone that marks his grave. On that stone you would see engraved his name George Washington, the date of his birth and the date of his death. That's all. Except for one small notation.

The epitaph at the bottom of the gravestone stone reads: "Jesus said, I am the Resurrection and the Life; he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live." John XI:XXV

No matter how renowned or how humble our life, all will have an opportunity through Jesus Christ, to know the true God and choose His way. Now for you and I, we've been given that remarkable truth of God now! We have the opportunity - the privilege - to be a part of the first resurrection - a better resurrection!

Blessed and holy is he that has part in the first resurrection: on such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. (Revelation 20:6)

The Feast of Trumpets is wonderful reminder of the plan of God for His people. It's a mystery, yet it is revealed to God's people in 1 Corinthians 15:51-52, "Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed-- in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed."

Our incredible future awaits.

Have a meaningful Sabbath,

Dave
