From the Pastor: Weekly Word 1-1-20

Greetings!

How does a battery work? To put it simply the positive end emits positive energy which powers whatever needs powering. It GIVES energy. The negative end TAKES the energy that has already been used and in doing so drains the entire energy supply of the battery.

Have we ever considered just how positive God's spirit can make us? Not positive in the sense that we're positive we're right. But positive in the sense that God's spirit allows us to be hopeful, happy and optimistic about our future and about the future of others.

The apostle Paul said to the congregation in Thessalonica:

1 Thessalonians 2:19-20 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? For you are our glory and joy.

Do we consider each and every brother and sister in the church to be OUR glory and joy? Are we overjoyed by their successes in their Christian walk? If so we are being positive. We are giving energy and vitality to others. Being negative however DRAINS the energy and resources of others.

How can we remain positive? First of all pray to God to see the good in God and in others. Pray to God to remove the negative thoughts and emotions in ourselves and to instead instill us with positivity and hope.

The bible does not tell us to dwell on negatives. Instead we need to dwell on the positive:

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.

Take care and see you soon!

Doug
