Letter From Frank Fish
December 11, 2020
Hello Friends,
Church Service meeting plan:
Several months ago, in discussion with the elders we foresaw that the spread of the COVID-19 virus may continue across an extended period of time. Thus, our plan to have in-person services every other week as permitted. It is clear that we will need to continue to follow this pattern well into the spring.
No doubt you have heard that rulings on cases before the U.S. Supreme Court are modifying how Church worship services are to be treated in the "stay at home directives". The most recent California stay-at-home order does recognize "outdoor worship" gathering is permitted with masking.
There seems to be no modified language for Kern County directives with respect to religious services, which in our view would mean that California State directives would apply. Therefore, will be discussing whether there is a location available for outdoor services in Bakersfield.
With respect to services for Los Angeles congregation, the City of Pasadena specifically exempts "outdoor faith-based services" from gathering limitations and stay-at-home orders. Link: Pasadena Issues Temporary Limited Stay at Home December 2, 2020
This means we can move forward with a little more certainty than in the past.
Upcoming Services: It is our hope to add an in-person venue for Bakersfield. When that happens, we will schedule it the same week as the outdoor service in Pasadena.
