Letter From Frank Fish

January 29, 2021

Hello Friends,

Tomorrow, January 30, 2021, we will have Sabbath Services via Zoom only.

English Sabbath Service      Spanish Translation

The service tomorrow will feature three modules on interpersonal relationships.  By design the messages will be longer than a sermonette but shorter than a split sermon.  It is our thought to create three breakout rooms after the service so you can engage with the topic and speaker of your choice.

  • Family - presented by Jonathan Garnant.  We felt this section would have appropriate relevance if brought by a husband and father who is experiencing first-hand the challenges of raising a family into today's world.
  • Church - presented by John Karlik.  Navigating in a church community takes an awareness of Biblical definitions, injunctions, historical perspectives and personal expectations.
  • Community - presented by Ted Budge.  While we often talk in general terms about preaching the gospel from an organization point of view, the reality is that each day we have the duty to meaningfully engage as a Christian in the public square of work and community.

Prayer Update - Juan Melo

It has now been just over two weeks of hospitalization for Juan. While he continues to improve, his need for larger amounts of oxygen will need to be lower for him to return home.  Let us pray that happens over the weekend.

Updated Posts on our local websites

  • Food Drive February 3 - Glendale Community College
  • Teen Bible Study Discussions, Western Region - February 12, 19, & 26
  • Updates from Home office
  • List of Church servants contact information on the pinned side bar - we are adding a downloadable file in case you would like to print for your use.

General Prayers in our congregations

There are a number of our Bakersfield and Los Angeles members who have recently contracted COVID-19 and are enduring it or have recovered.  They have solicited prayer on a personal level as the cases seem to be mild and did not desire that I share with the entire congregation.  In addition, there are others with various surgeries and ongoing health challenges, some of these we have announced to the congregation, others wish to involve members on an individual basis.  The bottom line is that we need to continue, as I know you do, to ask God to bless our brethren with robust health and energy.  And let us pray that everyone is able to remain fully employed.

Upcoming Services

It is our hope to add an in-person venue for Bakersfield, perhaps in February.  When that happens, we will schedule it the same week as the outdoor service in Pasadena.
