Letter From Frank Fish

January 8, 2021

Hello Friends,

Quick Connect Link via Zoom for Sabbath Service January 9, 2021 at 2:30 pm:

English Sabbath Service  *  Spanish Translation

Messages tomorrow will be two split sermons brought by Paul Shemet and myself.

***********

I am sorry to have bowed out of the sermon last week.  The vertigo nausea challenge came on suddenly right before departing for the service.  This week the challenge has lessened and the doctor suspects that the viral infection in the inner ear may be working its way out.  Thank you for your prayers and support.

Birth Announcement

An announcements from last week that did not make it from my notes to the song leader was from Liz Russell.

Liz Russell is thrilled to announce the birth of grand-daughter, Rose Elizabeth Russell, born to Stephanie and Wesley Russell of the Columbus, OH congregation. Rose was born on Thursday, December 31, at 6:23 pm, weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and measured 19 1/2 inches long.  Mom, Dad, and Baby are all doing fine, and Grandma is eagerly looking forward to meeting little Rose as soon as she comes home from the hospital this weekend.  Congratulations Grandma!

Tony Valenzuela Sr.

Over the past two days, no doubt you have seen the prayer requests and updates on our dear friend Tony Valenzuela Sr.  Ralph Helge and I were able to visit with Mary and her children at the hospital on Thursday, January 7th.  Tony Jr. sent the following few lines as post script to the emotional day.

Mary Valenzuela and her loving family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and kindness at this difficult moment. Our dear father passed peacefully at the exact moment when the family was joined in a prayer of gratitude and thankfulness for a life devoted to God and the unwavering love for his family. Blessings upon you all.

Mary thanks you all for your prayers, she has felt each one.

Cards may be sent to:  530 N Orange Avenue, Azusa CA 91702.  Arrangements are pending.

Prayer Updates

Tomorrow's zoom will give us a chance to catch up with other members who recently have been in our prayers - Joann Clemmons (home from hospital), Candace James, Sharon Roybal, Bonnie Shemet, Grinnell, Oesterle and Velazquez families.  It is going to be so nice when we get to give everyone a hug once the COVID-19 pandemic is behind us.  Until then, may we continue with calls, cards and prayers of encouragement for one another.

Women's Discussion Group - Wednesday, January 13, 2021 - 7:00 pm

Kim Budge provided the following update. "Welcome to a new year of Women's Discussion Group!  A time for all of us to connect and grow as sisters in Christ regardless of our age, role in life - single, mother, grandmother, career woman, retiree etc.  We have so much to share and learn from one another.  This year, we begin with a new format.   Each meeting will start with a Caring and Sharing segment where you are welcome to share good news, blessings, struggles, accomplishment or perhaps a prayer request.   After the Caring and Sharing segment, we will have a Sister Spotlight. This is an opportunity for us to get to know one another better.  The women amongst us have many gifts and talents that can enrich us all.  We will then move into the Discussion segment of our meeting.

We invite all ladies near and far to join in sharing our time of togetherness, on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00pm.  If you would like to participate in any of the segments, Caring and Sharing, Sister Spotlight or Facilitator for the Discussion, let us know.  We want everyone to feel included.

Another Need - Blankets

As you know we have some members who serve once a month at the soup kitchen in Eagle Rock.  The format amid COVID-19 has varied to comply with wise safety protocols.  This last week as they handed out hygiene kits, they were asked, "do you have any blankets"?  Our small team of members scoured their vehicles and only found one which they, of course, willingly gave away.  Our request, if you have blankets you do not need, please consider donating them.  Give Jonathan Reimann (626-297-0771) or Bob Brown (626-355-5554) a call to arrange a pick-up by Monday, January 22nd, to be ready for our next community service evening on January 25th.  Or you could bring the blanket to our next outdoor service tomorrow or on January 16th.

Upcoming Services:

It is our hope to add an in-person venue for Bakersfield, perhaps in February.  When that happens, we will schedule it the same week as the outdoor service in Pasadena.
