Letter From Frank Fish

November 25, 2020

Hello Friends,

Food Drive - We have been notified by Liz Russell that another food drive will be held at Glendale Community College on Thursday, December 2nd.  Please see the post with details on our UCGLA.org web page.

Services this week:

  • Bakersfield and Los Angeles will join together on Zoom this week as we had originally planned.  With daily changes in health directives, it is a blessing to have this technology to virtually gather and to hear the word of God read.  It is interesting that the Hebrew word miq@ra miqra' (convocation), found in Leviticus 23:3, is translated in various verses as convocation, convoking and reading.  The concept of "reading" is a rich tradition throughout the Biblical narrative, as it brought meaning and connection to God and family.  Reading the word of God, we are reminded to be thankful for our blessings personally and nationally.
  • The sermonette will be from John Velazquez who usually is assisting with the Spanish Translation each week.  We appreciate John's service and care for others.
  • The sermon will be brought by our friend for decades, Ralph Helge.  In our day, it is not common to have a couple reside in one church area for so many decades.  We are thankful and appreciative of Ralph and Ingrid's service these many years.

This Week's Sabbath Services:

Bakersfield and Los Angeles will meet together this Sabbath, November 28th at 2:30 p.m. via Zoom.

Happy Thanksgiving and a Blessed Sabbath!
