Arthur was born in Wheeling, W.Va. Grew up in Ohio. He studied engineering at Ohio State and in the U.S. Air Force, becoming an Aircraft Performance Engineer. In 1956 Arthur married Rilla Maxwell, who attended Bliss Business College.
He flew B-36 bomber during the cold war as a deterrent to Russia, and attained the rank of a Captain. After the war, he bought a farm near Perrysville, Ohio, and studied Business Administration at Ashland, University.
Chris Rowland and his wife, Katherine, serve in the ministry of the United Church of God. They live in Cincinnati, Ohio, where Chris is Human Resources Manager and Administrator for Ministerial and Member Services. Chris and Katherine have two college-aged sons.
Chris graduated from Wabash College in 1994 with a degree in Mathematics, minoring in Computer Science and French. He worked as a computer programmer and software architect for 17 years before he was hired by the Church full-time in January 2011.
