Michael Snyder speaks about the near catastrophic flight of Sully Sullenberger. Sully had a make a life or death decision to save 155 lives. What were his critical success factors? How does this apply to us? Sully made continual deposit in his "experience bank" and then made one huge withdrawal. We have to become spiritually fit and engaged to do the work as a disciple and give the gift of encouragement. We also have "29 seconds" to save or improve a life.

Sermon Notes

Mike Snyder explores the near catastrophic flight of Sully Sullenberger.  Was there anything else that contributed to Sully’s heroic events besides his experience and what lessons can we learn from them?  What others miracles happened in this flight?  Sully had to make a life or death decision in 29 seconds to save 155 lives.

What were the critical success factors?  He had been making continual deposits in his “experience bank” and now needed to make a big withdrawal.  Success  is where preparation and performance meet.  How does this apply to us?

Become spiritually fit and engaged.  Focus on becoming a disciple.

Luke 14:25-34 → Count the cost and determine what you need to do.

No one knows when Christ will return, we must be vigilant on a daily basis.

Matt. 24:36

Do the work of a disciple.

James 1:22 → Don’t just listen to God’s word, do what it says.

Give the gift of a disciple

According to IBM, there is one leadership trait that transforms organizations.

The gift is of encouragement.

Prov. 25:11 → A word “fitly” spoken.  It is the only time this word appears.  We all want to be encouraged and can be on a spiritual desert sometimes.

We need to carefully give ‘high-impact’ encouragement.  We have 29 seconds to save or improve a life.
