Sermon Notes

In ALL God’s Process of Conversion for God’s People, we may miss what is MOST important. We ARE not called to salvation only, but we ARE Called,  Commissioned, and being created NEW  for the Purpose God Created us. This Spiritual Process culminates in the fully Spirit Family at the Resurrection into the Kingdom!

This Great Purpose for God’s Family members overrides all our worldly concerns, since God is above all that in control of His Plan for ALL (especially His People)

1 Timothy 3:15 (NKJV) 15  but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

What IS the MOST and HIGHEST Priority of our state with God right now?

WE are (as God’s Word puts it):

“Called to the Resurrection”:

Or to put it another way …“We are called to the Kingdom and Family of God through Christ and His Resurrection”.

Paul …deeply concerned about God’s Calling and Work of those in His charge …Paul comments about our state of being now and as we enter the Kingdom. He explains that the works now all end in us being “changed”; and that is how we are motivated to go forward. (The motivation of our Calling or Purpose)

1 Corinthians 15:19 (NKJV) 19  If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.

Our HOPE is then explained …

1 Corinthians 15:20-28 (NKJV) 20  But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21  For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. 23  But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming. 24  Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. 25  For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. 26  The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. 27  For "He has put all things under His feet." But when He says "all things are put under Him," it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted. 28  Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.

Our HOPE is from God and is from outside this world.

1 Corinthians 15:50-58 (NKJV) 50  Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51  Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed-- 52  in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54  So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." 55  "O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?" 56  The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57  But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58  Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Additionally, Paul states his personal state of being in THE life-priorities of the Kingdom during this life:

Philippians 3:7-12 (NKJV) 7  But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8  Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9  and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10  that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 11  if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. 12  Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.

As Paul considers the priorities of doing the Work with Christ, He addresses this Priority again.

Romans 8:18-24 (NKJV) 18  For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19  For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. 20  For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; 21  because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22  For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. 23  Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. 24  For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?

Paul states the reason for our Calling …

2 Thessalonians 2:13-14 (NKJV) 13  But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth,

14 to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The priorities of the Kingdom in our new lives:

((((Mark 1:14-15 (NKJV) 14  Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15  and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel."

((((Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33  But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

In this new life, as our Father has drawn us to Christ, we are engaged in the great Commission included this physical life in Matthew 28:18-20, while seeking the Kingdom as the primary and eternal GOAL for our Calling; and thus sharing our new life with all who are Called.

In the context of Paul’s letter to the Corinthians this is necessary for Paul to make clear because they could then be enabled by God’s Holy Spirit …the vastly superior Perfect Guidance within His Purpose, rather than their own prideful self-will.

Further, we see throughout God’s Word a “seeking” for the future world into which we will be born. This “seeking” is put into a human as they yield to God’s relationship with them.

Hebrews 11:13-16 (NKJV) 13  These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14  For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. 15  And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16  But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.

{Since They are Called to the Kingdom Family of God and THAT is their primary Goal}

You ARE Called To The Resurrection
