In Corinthians 13, the apostle Paul said “the greatest of these is love.” Christ said that “by this shall all men know that you are My disciples.” The first fruit of the Spirit is love, which is translated from the Greek word “agape.” What does this word mean? The Greeks, the Bible concordances and dictionaries don’t have an adequate meaning for this word. Only from the Bible and Jesus Christ can we know what this unique attribute of God’s people and Kingdom is. We must know what it is in order to be able to let God develop it in us.
