The understanding of God's plan for a resurrection from the dead was not understood for thousands of years although various glimpses of the idea were presented throughout the old testament. Much more of the plan became evident when Jesus Christ inspired John to document many references to the last day and the resurrection from the dead in his gospel. Even more detail was provided in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ and this plan gives hope for the eventual offering of salvation to all mankind.
