“…I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18). The Book of Acts relates the account of how Christ kept His promise, as the power of the Holy Spirit was poured out. The amazing story of how the Church grew is among the most exciting stories of the New Testament. “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). The beautiful city of Ephesus must have been a city of contrasts! It was a city dedicated to the Greek goddess Artemis (Diana to the Ephesian). Yet Ephesus is the best preserved ancient city of Asia Minor, with its majestic theater, marble road, the library, the stadium, and the school (or lecture hall) of Tyrannus.
