We are told that we are called and that the Father Himself calls us. Do we see our calling clearly and understand and grasp the magnitude of it all?

Sermon Notes

Partial notes and Scriptures used.

Isaiah 29:14 Isaiah 29:14Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
American King James Version×
Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid. Men's wisdom is going to fail mightily ...

1Co 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 1Co 1:22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 1Co 1:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 1Co 1:24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 1Co 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 1Co 1:26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 1Co 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 1Co 1:28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 1Co 1:29 That no flesh should glory in his presence. Do we see and grasp the calling God is giving us? See on the Imperative, that is, it is a COMMAND of God that we see and consider our calling!! Look around, are we the mighty, powerful, wise, movers/shakers of the world? Do we see our calling. Can we grasp WHY God called us, what is our purpose, why are we here.

1Co 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. HOW does He evaluate WHO He calls, why and when? Joh 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. IT IS THE FATHER Himself Who calls us. It is HE Who draws us, gives us the call of attention, ability to see, perceive and begin to understand, think and ponder... As we look at His creation we see that HE is perfect in all He does.. the deeper you look the more complexity and perfection you find... In His calling, some people think God likely made a mistake.. .... HE PLACES US IN THE BODY as it pleases HIM. He is very involved and HE did not just capriciously send Christ to suffer as He did just so by chance we can come into the Church which will be Christ's bride. HE wants Christ to marry a GOOD WOMAN. We have latent talents that God only can see and put to use and develop. He is trying to change and transform us in every sense of the word.

American King James Version×
Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah 1:5 Jeremiah 1:5Before I formed you in the belly I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I sanctified you, and I ordained you a prophet to the nations.
American King James Version×
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. HOW about us. See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant. We do as Jeremiah... we can't imagine... we can't accept the POWER and impact of His calling and the MISSION He called us for. Why did God select the Levites for the priesthood? It was not God's original intent. GOD is not made of stone, like the law of the Medes and Persians. He can change His mind... though HE Himself does not change. During the time of Jacob... Dinah was raped and dishonored by a prince of Shechem. The father asked for Dinah to be given as a wife. the Brothers were so angry and in deep wrath they could not let it go that the sister had been defiled.

1Pe 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 1Pe 2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. 1Pe 2:7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, 1Pe 2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. 1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: 1Pe 2:10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

We are chosen, and specially called ... our characteristics as to WHY God called us at this time, have been part of His decision. Christ is loving, tender with people. emotional, multifaceted and great capacity for Great Indignation. When Christ called the leaders YOU Hypocrites !!! A great insult to the people of the day... the expulsion of the money changers... We are expected to cry aloud and spare not. Lot's soul was vexed by what he saw in Sodom... what about us?

Firstborn have some characteristics that second and third born do NOT have. Why did God change His mind?
