Israel’s journey from Egypt to Mt. Sinai was marked by tremendous miracles and the presence of God, who personally spoke the Ten Commandments to them. But in spite of that, they seemed to lack faith in God, often complained, and even expressed a desire to return to Egypt, where they had been slaves. They were human beings very much like us, but they did not have the heart to have faith in and obey God. God wants us to have the heart to follow Him, through the tests and trials the He allows us to experience.
