The Bible record of the first Passover given in Exodus 12 shows that it was kept on the evening at the beginning of the 14th day of the first month with each family killing their own lamb. But by the time of Jesus most Jews were keeping it one day later with the lambs being killed at the temple by the priests. How did these changes come about and are they biblical? In this the first of a two part Bible study series Mr. Smith begins looking at these changes by covering the history of Passover observance from the time of Moses up to the time of David and Solomon.

Gary Smith was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, but spent most of his youth in the Pasadena, California area. He graduated from Ambassador College in 1976 and he and his wife, Liz, moved to Peoria, Illinois. For the next six years he worked as a nursing home administrator in Illinois, Ohio, and Texas.
In 1982, he and Liz began to serve in the full-time ministry. Since that time, they have served in a number of congregations in the Midwest.
Gary and Liz now pastor in Houston, Texas near their two children and grandson.
