Many scholars believe that John god his use of the term Logos from Greek philosophy and that therefore it does not prove the pre-existence of Jesus as the God of Israel. But Mr. Smith shows that the term "the word" was one of the terms the Jews used to get around saying the name of God. He then shows several Old Testament verses where the Jews connect the name "the word" with the YHWH name for God. This study includes a handout that can be downloaded.
