Hezekiah was a good, righteous example for us to follow. He did what was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father David had done. He opened up the Temple of God that his father Ahaz had closed and restored Temple worship. He destroyed the pagan sites of worship throughout Judah. When Judah and Jerusalem were attacked by Sennacherib and the Assyrian armies, Hezekiah besought God to intervene and protect Judah and Jerusalem. Through the Prophet Isaiah, Hezekiah was told that Sennacherib had blasphemed the Lord, would not attack Jerusalem, but would return to his own land and fall by the sword. When he was sick and told by Isaiah to get his house in order because he was going to die, Hezekiah prayed a heartfelt prayer to the Lord and wept bitterly. God heard his prayer and sent Isaiah back to inform him that the Lord would heal him and his prayer and added 15 years to his life. Hezekiah trusted in the Lord God of Israel and held fast to the Lord. He did not depart from following the Lord, but kept His commandments which the Lord had commanded Moses. The Lord was with him, and he prospered wherever he went. He was a good, righteous example for us to follow.
