Best teachers over the years - those that have encouraged you to ask questions. Mat 22:35  Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, Mat 22:36  "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?" If this had never been asked, what if this had never been answered, what would we have thought? Mat 22:37  Jesus said to him, 'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.' Mat 22:38  This is the first and great commandment. Mat 22:39  And the second is like it: 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' Mat 22:40  On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." Not only on the first, but on both   Luk 10:25  And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" Luk 10:26  He said to him, "What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?" Luk 10:27  So he answered and said, "'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND,' and 'YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'" Luk 10:28  And He said to him, "You have answered rightly; do this and you will live." Luk 10:29  But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Luk 10:30  Then Jesus answered and said: "A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Luk 10:31  Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Luk 10:32  Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. Luk 10:33  But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. Luk 10:34  So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. Luk 10:35  On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.' Luk 10:36  So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?" Luk 10:37  And he said, "He who showed mercy on him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise." Right question to have asked for this answer is "Who is being a neighbor?" Deu 6:4  "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! Deu 6:5  You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Deu 6:6  "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. Lev 19:18  You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD. Know = know absolutely, greek meaning Supreme affection 1Jn 2:3  Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 1Jn 2:4  He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1Jn 2:5  But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 1Jn 2:6  He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. Jesus kept God's command 1Jn 3:22  And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. 1Jn 3:23  And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. 1Jn 5:1  Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. 1Jn 5:2  By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. We can not love your brother, if we do not love God Jas 2:8  If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF," you do well;   Fellowship  - partnership 1Jn 1:5  This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 1Jn 1:6  If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 1Jn 1:7  But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1Jn 1:8  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1Jn 1:9  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. This is a process 1Jn 1:10  If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. 1Jn 2:11  But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. 1Jn 3:14  We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death. 1Jn 3:15  Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. Eternal life 1Jn 3:16  By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 1Jn 3:17  But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? If we don't love, we don't know God 1Jn 4:7  Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 1Jn 4:8  He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1Jn 4:20  If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 1Jn 4:21  And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also. Words vs. deeds 1Jn 3:17  But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? 1Jn 3:18  My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. Jas 2:8  If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF," you do well; Jas 2:9  but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors. Partiality - respect to some over others, favoritism   Flunk or fail F=Favoritism Gen 25:24  So when her days were fulfilled for her to give birth, indeed there were twins in her womb. Gen 25:25  And the first came out red. He was like a hairy garment all over; so they called his name Esau. Gen 25:26  Afterward his brother came out, and his hand took hold of Esau's heel; so his name was called Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them. Gen 25:27  So the boys grew. And Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field; but Jacob was a mild man, dwelling in tents. Gen 25:28  And Isaac loved Esau because he ate of his game, but Rebekah loved Jacob. Gen 37:3  Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age. Also he made him a tunic of many colors. Gen 37:4  But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peaceably to him. Jas 2:1  My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality. Jas 2:2  For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes, Jas 2:3  and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, "You sit here in a good place," and say to the poor man, "You stand there," or, "Sit here at my footstool," Jas 2:4  have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? Partiality - selective respect Deu 1:16  "Then I commanded your judges at that time, saying, 'Hear the cases between your brethren, and judge righteously between a man and his brother or the stranger who is with him. Deu 1:17  You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small as well as the great; you shall not be afraid in any man's presence, for the judgment is God's. The case that is too hard for you, bring to me, and I will hear it.' Lev 19:15  'You shall do no injustice in judgment. You shall not be partial to the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty. In righteousness you shall judge your neighbor. Rom 13:8  Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. Rom 13:9  For the commandments, "YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY," "YOU SHALL NOT MURDER," "YOU SHALL NOT STEAL," "YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS," "YOU SHALL NOT COVET," and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."   F=Flatter Job 32:21  Let me not, I pray, show partiality to anyone; Nor let me flatter any man. Job 32:22  For I do not know how to flatter, Else my Maker would soon take me away. Mat 22:15  Then the Pharisees went and plotted how they might entangle Him in His talk. Mat 22:16  And they sent to Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God in truth; nor do You care about anyone, for You do not regard the person of men. Mat 22:17  Tell us, therefore, what do You think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?" Mat 22:18  But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, "Why do you test Me, you hypocrites? 1Th 2:4  But as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts. 1Th 2:5  For neither at any time did we use flattering words, as you know, nor a cloak for covetousness—God is witness. Rom 16:17  Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. Rom 16:17  Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. Rom 16:18  For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple. Eph 5:29  For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.   Joh 13:34  A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. Joh 13:35  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."   Love that is so rare and unusual that it stands out when it is there.
