This message begins to provide a proper perspective regarding genealogies as related to the history of the human family. It looks at the short term and the long term issues of family relations in the Bible.

Sermon Notes

Micro versus macro
Microeconomics versus macroeconomics
Your personal budget compared to the system or systemic World economies

We can look at the Bible and study it in a micro process or in a macro process

We can look at an individual verse And elaborate and break it down to get a very fine point from the Bible

We can also look at a more broad macro view of the Bible And see Patterns

Patterns that take years to develop throughout generations of humanity

Today I want to take a look a macro view of genealogy, look for patterns, and look for correlation with other information, to begin to see the Macro pattern in humanity.

God would create and maintain his true faith through one family which would become one great people that would spread throughout the world.
(Galatians 6:16 NIV)  Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule, even to the Israel of God.

(1 Timothy 3:14 KJV)  These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:
(1 Timothy 3:15 KJV)  But if I tarry long, that thou may know how you ought to behave yourself in the house of God,
which is the church of the living God,
the pillar and ground of the truth.
(1 Timothy 3:16 KJV)  And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifest in the flesh,
justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Genealogy being the study of families
Their origins their names their branches clans dynasties and nations

I started looking at my families genealogy a micro-study
Looking for specific family relationships specifically looking for a great grandfather

I could find the history of my name
Marchbanks going back to Scotland to about 1300 ad
It was here that I wound up in the macro study of the Scottish people the so-called Stone of destiny Jacobs Pillar stone

This transplant of David's royal seat from Jerusalem to Egypt with Jeremiah then to Spain, Ireland, Ionia, Scotland and the place where it is today marks the end of an age and the start of the next.

From the story of Pharez and Zarah,  the sons of Judah and a scarlet thread further back in history I went.

(Genesis 38:30 KJV)  And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his hand: and his name was called Zarah.
(Genesis 39:1 KJV)  And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmaelites, which had brought him down thither.

The macro study was dragging me into a vortex Of time and calendar speculation.

What YEAR WAS ALL THIS HAPPENING?

Soon a date key would be found
1 kings 1 ch 6 (1 Kings 6:1 KJV)  And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.
966 bce. 480 years
Commentators have calculated this to1446 bce

How do these years correlate with pharaohs that are known to have ruled during those years?

Were there any patterns from that Israelite Slavery in Egypt?

EGYPTIAN DATES The Ancient Egyptian calendar is believed to date back to the 3rd Millennium BC
Ancient Egyptian Calendar
 10 days = 1 week
 3 weeks = 1 month
 4 months = 1 season
 3 seasons + 5 holy days = 1 year
10 day work week in Egypt. The ancient Egyptians, among their other accomplishments, were probably the first people in the history of the world to discover the number of days in a year down to the nearest digit.
The original version of the Egyptian calendar had a week of 10 days, a month of 3 weeks or 30 days, a season defined as 4 months or 120 days, three seasons equaling 360 days, which were followed by five unnamed outside the calendar days to total 365 days in a year.
The year began with the season of Akhit (Flood, as in Nile River), followed by Perit (Winter) and Shemu (Summer). Egypt Calendar gives this date thus: Shemu 2-14 for the 14th day of the second month in the summer (Shemu) season. The five unnamed outside the calendar days are treated by the calendar as a five-day, fifth month of Shemu.
Because a tradition developed that any work done on the five unnamed outside the calendar days was unlucky, the ancient Egyptians ended their year with a five-day festival.
The great advantage of the Egyptian calendar is that it was easy to use-it survived in daily use for more than 3,000 years. Astronomers and historians used the calendar for convenience of chronology as late as the 16th century. France tried a version of it shortly after the French Revolution, in the late 18th century. This calendar has even drawn praise from a 20th-century astronomer (Neugebeuer, "A History of Ancient Mathematical Astronomy") for being the -"most sensible of all calendars used by mankind", with its easy-to-use 10-day weeks, 30-day months, and 365-day years.
The pattern is starting to show.

Those who worship the true God end up as slaves.
They are freed and used as examples.

The Gentile empires and races, non-Hebrew, non-Israelite follow other Gods and worship idols
It seems the true followers of God are:
small in number
can have great possessions or not
have been tried by calendars of Gentile nations
leave very little archeological proof
rely on gentile records for confirmation of existence

Next week I will conclude with Baked bricks at the Tower of Babel

When did Abram To be named Abraham Go to Egypt?

Who were Abrahams family and what happened in those thousand years leading up to his leaving his family and Haran?

Son of nahor Son of terah Son of eber Son of peleg

When the world was divided in the time of peleg

We have a point in time that we see we have Abraham and his father grandfather and great-grandfather

2500 BCE Temple of Amun in Karnak Egypt

Let's still go back to the flood and backfill this last 1000 to 1200 years

Noah had three sons
Ham Shem and Japheth

Each of these three sons became great races of peoples That eventually covered the continents of the earth

This is in opposition to an ancient alien theory that is a theory Physical creators with no answer to how they were actually created or where they are from

What I will show you today in this back-filled 1000 years

Is that mankind's Principal religion was carried down from this period of time

There is no mystery to how the ancients had similarities even though they were continents apart

Let's begin in Genesis 6 at the Tower of Babel

Baked bricks versus Stone
Professor Linn Hobbs of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). www.instron.com/wa/library/StreamFile.aspx?doc=2107
Dr. Hobbs along with two colleagues teaches the course “Materials in the Human Environment” that investigates the development of materials and technologies through human history. As evidenced by the name, the range of class teachings and projects is wide and our discussions included research into brick and mortar construction, natural-fiber rope bridges in the Andes, and whether the Egyptian pyramid blocks were cast in place rather than quarried and then lifted into place. The well-appointed MIT laboratories have several Instron test instruments that enable the
students to evaluate the capabilities of the materials that they produce during the class.
To estimate the possible theoretical height of a brick-built tower, Dr. Hobbs has his students manufacture bricks using clay, sand, and straw folded together. Some bricks are sun-dried while others are fired in a furnace, as they would have been as building technology advanced. A series of empirical compressive tests on the bricks using an Instron electromechanical testing system evaluates their individual strength and from these values, they can calculate the possibilities. The sun-dried bricks withstand compressive loads up to 4000 lb/sq in. A pyramidal structure built with these bricks and with a wide base to spread the weight of the structure could reach around 1500 ft., or around a quarter of a mile. However, a new technology had developed that imparted much greater strength to the bricks; they were baked in wood-fired furnaces. When baked bricks are compressed, they can withstand 20,000 lb/sq in., which equates to a possible height for the tower of 10,500 ft or almost two miles high. That’s around four times as high as the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. It’s also high enough to have given altitude sickness to any Mesopotamians strong enough to reach the top!
