Saul hated the very name of Jesus and believed that Jesus was a blaspheming heretic who could not be the Messiah. He zealously hunted down Christians and violently persecuted them for corrupting what he believed was true religion. After Christ’s crucifixion, the miracle on the road to Damascus transformed Saul’s life when he was blinded and Jesus Christ himself intervened. Jesus Christ personally taught Saul/Paul who was commissioned to declared the gospel throughout the Roman Empire to the gentiles. Paul developed a close and intriguing relationship with the physician Luke. Together these companions and scholars wrote more half of the New Testament.
