The apostle Peter was one of the few men in the Bible given a new name by God. He is an inspiring example to us. At times, he showed spiritual immaturity and arrogance, yet strong faith and humility. God used Peter on the first Pentecost. After filling him with His Holy Spirit, 3,000 souls were added to the church. God used him with Cornelius by adding the first gentile converts to the church. Written near the end of his life, Peter’s two letters give us hope, assurance, and encouragement to persevere to the everlasting kingdom.
