We are instructed by the Apostle Paul to examine ourselves before taking the Passover symbols of bread and wine (1 Corinthians 11:28). What should we look for? How we have fallen short this past year as well as positive improvement and growth we have experienced.
The Greek word translated test or examine also contains other positive things we can discover including being worthy, genuine and approved by God.
