The basic reasons why we sin are all rooted in foolishness. These include (1) believing that we know better than God (which can include the belief that God does not exist at all), (2) ignorance of God’s laws (including the belief that the Law is “done away”) and (3) yielding to temptation because we cannot see the penalty coming. Heylel (Lucifer) was originally created with great intellect but succumbed to foolishness when he thought he could run the universe better than God. As Satan, he has become the king of foolishness – and as world ruler of the present age, he leads humanity on a foolish path of destruction and will continue to do so until Christ returns.
