Tradition holds that it is a time to prepare for harvest. Looking at it in a physical sense, we know it is a time to water, feed, weed, and prune to do what is necessary to create a greater yield. Those same concepts can be applied to our spiritual life, personally and collectively. I am reminded of what is written in John 4:35 “Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest."
