Keeping the sixth commandment goes beyond not taking the life of another; it also encompasses what we say and how we treat people. We need to move beyond avoiding the evil and actually do the good, and truly learn to love our neighbor.

Hi Brittney. I am very sorry to hear about the trauma you have endured. Remember that God knows and sees all that you are going through. You are not alone. It is very good for you to pray about these things, God will send you the comforter to help you through the tough moments. Handing these problems over to God is the path forward to healing. I sympathize that you have scars and suffer pain that is a constant reminder of the past. Forgiveness allows you to start the healing process. When you forgive someone, you are not condoning or absolving the sin against you. When you forgive, you no longer seek vengeance or payback, but you are giving the situation over to God who is the righteous judge (Rom 12:19). God will bring all sinners to repentance or judgment. Your difficult task is to find peace for yourself. Ask God to help you forgive so that you can start the healing process. Pray that God will heal the scars so they no longer have continual control over your life. Do this for yourself and those that are close to you. Your situation is complex and a good Christian-based counselor, trained in helping victims of abuse, could help you through the process.

Hi! my name is Brittney, I do have a comment and then a question. I have been dealt in my life hurt by people. Especially men. I have been raped numerous of times ever since I was 1 years old and now I'm actually getting out of a divorce with my husband. He abandon me and our 3 girls and took off with my son to make a different family with another woman. I'm trying so hard to forgive those who have hurt me in the past and present but how do I do that? I have been hurt so much in life, I'm at the point to say how can I keep forgiving those who has hurt me? I pray a lot about it but I still have thoughts on how I can ever forgive anyone again. What can I do to get me to the point to forgive my enemies?
