Mr. Smith opens this sermon by asking us an important question, are we really true followers of Jesus Christ? God looks on the heart and He needs to know that we are genuine in our desire to follow him before he grants us eternal life. So are we living by God's truth? We may think we are doing well and fail to see areas of our live we are falling short in. So how can we properly evaluate our spiritual condition? Mr. Smith, following the example we see set by David in the Psalms, suggest that we might try keeping a journal of our efforts to follow God to the fullest in our lives.

Gary Smith

Gary Smith was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, but spent most of his youth in the Pasadena, California area. He graduated from Ambassador College in 1976 and he and his wife, Liz, moved to Peoria, Illinois. For the next six years he worked as a nursing home administrator in Illinois, Ohio, and Texas.
In 1982, he and Liz began to serve in the full-time ministry. Since that time, they have served in a number of congregations in the Midwest.
Gary and Liz now pastor in Houston, Texas near their two children and grandson.
