There are times in our lives when we face difficult trials and obstacles to overcome—or at least to endure. There are times when we don't really know where to look for the help we need. God tells us we can look to His Son when life is hard. “…let us lay aside every weight, and the sin that so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus…” (Hebrews 12:1-2). It's more than just looking for Him, or reading about Him; it's “looking unto Him,” with the expectation that He can and will help us. So, how is it that we are “looking unto Jesus”? How is it that we “see Jesus”? How do we perceive Him? The narrative found in Matthew 14 and Mark 6 of Christ walking on water and the miracle of the loaves and fish in feeding the thousands is meant to help us to more fully comprehend what the disciples didn't understand about Jesus that stormy night so we can apply this understanding in our own lives.
