We are living in a very divided world, which needs to learn how to live together in peace, harmony and unity. What about all of us in God’s Church, who are members of God’s Spiritual Temple? How can we all learn to live in peace and unity in our relationships? Will that require sacrifice on our part? What did Christ sacrifice that we all might become “one”? Christ sacrificed three things, and in following Christ’s example, we must make those three same sacrifices in order to obtain lasting unity in all of our relationships.

Elder, United Church of God

Steve Shafer was born and raised in Seattle. He graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1959 and later graduated from Ambassador College, Big Sandy, Texas in 1967, receiving a degree in Theology. He has been an ordained Elder of the Church of God for 34 years and has pastored congregations in Michigan and Washington State. He and his wife Evelyn have been married for over 48 years and have three children and ten grandchildren.
