God's word refers to those who are called out of this world new as "firstfruits". We see this in Romans 8:23; 16:5, and 1 Corinthians 15:20-23 and 16:15. Christians often think about the advantages of being one of the firstfruits of God: a better resurrection, access to precious knowledge now, ruling with Christ for a thousand years before the rest of humanity is given a chance at repentance. What a privilege. But what about our obligations: What are the obligations that go with this privilege: the obligations to produce fruit, to overcome, to be lights to the world? What does it mean to be a firstfruit?
