    There is one problem with this hypothesis and that is that lambs are born usually in late March to early April and at no other time of the year. We know that the sacrificial lambs were produced near Bethlehem and the shepherds would have been in the field with their flocks to assist with birthing and protect the sheep. The angel appeared to them in the field and they went to the manger to see for themselves making the birth of Christ more likely in late March or early April.
