Keys to Prophecy, Part 2 by Gary Smith Great sermon I already knew that the restoration of the nation of Israel (composing mainly of the tribe of Judah along with Levi and \Benjamin) wasn't a fulfillment of Biblical prophecy. However, what I totally didn't get was that Judah wasn't promised the empirical greatness. That promise was given or is given to Ephraim (England (or Britain)) and Manasseh (the United States). Did I understand this correctly?

Thank you Mr. Elliott for your God inspired message. I remember one of the many things my mother taught me was manners: no mame, yes mame, yes sir, no sir, please, and Thank You. Even so, there are times I forget to to be thankful and it is a blessing to be reminded. Another teaching my mother taught me was responsibility. Even though, my brother and I were in wheelchairs she gave us chores to do. Being physically disable and materialistic I find it easy to be self focused. I have a lot of thinks to be thankful for: God's Word, my wife, and the church. Happy Sabbath. Dennis Montgomery

I am leary of socialism even though I'm on the system i.e. Social Security, Medicare and a caregiver due to my disease for it can be very intrusive asking you questions you don't know how to answer or you don't want to answer.
However, if it wasn't for the system I would have been dead more than fifty years ago. Honestly, I don't believe the generosity of the church could have have covered the medical cost I've incurred over the years.

One other benefit I reaped from the system of socialism was my college education. If it wasn't for the grants I received I probably wouldn't have gained my AA degree. Without my AA I wouldn't have gained my thirteen year employment at the Boy's & Girls Club.

For the record I like working and believe it's better.

I'll be the first to admit socialism isn't perfect and even dangerous, but capitalism isn't so hot either in that it pollutes the earth with factories and exploit a lot of people.
Then there's this thought if capitalism was so great why would millions of people listened to Karl Marx in the first place and then tried to implement his idealogy?
These imperfections of socialism and capitalism points out why we need God's rule.

Is it possible for me to receive a manuscript copy via e-mail of this sermon? There were some things Dr. Ward said near the end that caught my interest which I can't remember now, but I knew were important. I want to take the time to study the scriptures he cited.

"Praying is a private communication between an individual and God and should be kept private."
Thanks for confirming what I believed and was taught.

Your experiences reminds me of one I had years ago. I was visiting a Pentecostle friend one day, she said she was having a prayer meeting and would I like to stay? I said sure. About ten or fifteen people arrived. We started out holding hands, praying in English and praying one at a time (no problem), but in a few minutes I started hearing gibberish. I tried to figure what languages I was hearing, yet none came to mind. Then they all started praying at once. The only thing I understood was these people were in pain. There was no one to translate any of this.

The only good thing that came from this gathering was these poor souls got to vent their suffering. As for being edified I don't remember any.

I'm still friends with this lady, however I haven't been to any more of her (or anyone else) prayer meetings and I am not planing on going to any either.

    Liked the article.
I have questions and a comment.
If one is in a congregation that mainly speaks English and you are not a native English speaker is permissible and scriptural to pray aloud in the congregation in your native tongue? Is a translator required for this circumstance? Or should one wait and go home and pray in their closet? And why doesn't UCG have public aloud prayer in the congregation?

I know a woman that has stated and/or implied that those who speak in tongues are at a higher level of spirituality. Does scripture support this notion? Personally, I don't believe it.

It is wonderful to know that it is not too late to come Jesus and God the Father.

For a member of the United Church of God who are familiar with prophecy and other related scriptures this was a good article. However for those outside the Church it may beconsidered insubstantial for there was not enough evidence to back-up the statements.
For example 1: is our military weaker? How is it weaker? Do we need more planes? Better planes? Do our troops need better weapontry or training? What ways are our adversaries better equipped and trained?
Example 2 sin: What sins? Is it drugs? Fornication? Homosexuality? Gambling? Abortions? Many outside readers may not know what sins are and how they affect our nation.

I know there have been other articles covering these topics, but for an article like this I really believe it needs to be more specific and stop generalizing.

There is one element a lot of people miss concerning Abraham and his faith and that is he did have works. It was work for him to get up early in the morning, saddle his ass, sharpen a knife, it was work for him to walk all the way to Moriah, and cleaveth wood for the burnt-offering,
What do you think God would thought of Abraham if he didn't do these works? Abraham's faith would have been dead. God doesn't expect us to sit on our butts and say, "I don't need to do anything. I have faith."

That was a fasinating sermon. A lot of things Mr. Martin said makes sense. I never thought of Desert Storm being prophetic. It was also refreshing to hear a minister say we don't know every thing. Because I agree with him, but I will continue to watch.

This is a great sermon. I liked the way Mister Urwiller explained the different forms of blindness and why it was such a great miracle. Mister Urwiller made me see thing in this event I never saw before. God bless you.
