Harris N Hlazo is a deacon in the Harare, Zimbabwe, congregation. He first came in contact with The Plain Truth magazine around 1964. At the time there were no Church of God congregations in Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia). He was baptized in November of 1971 and ordained a deacon in 1980. He was later ordained a local church elder.
Harris started attending United Church of God in 2001. That same year he visited the United States and attended his first Feast of Tabernacles in United Church of God at the Feast site in Escondido, California. He was ordained a deacon in United in 2007. He is presently looking after the small growing church in the Harare and eastern area of the country. At some stage numbers went right down to one person in Harare—meaning Harris attended on his own. Now the church has grown to around 12 to 15 people.
