The book of Judges depicts a tumultuous time in the history of Israel. When the judges guided Israel the nation prospered as it followed God’s Laws. When a judge died, Israel quickly reverted to false doctrine, and with it came trouble and strife.

How often have you heard these expressions? All you need to know is about “freedom in Christ”. “Our salvation has to do with our relation to Christ”. “No rules or laws are needed”. Are you saved by grace alone?" Is there or could there really be anything else?

Does it really matter what we do in life? Does God Care about what we do? Should we Christians really be concerned about what we do or don’t do, or what we were taught? The apostle Paul is one example of a man who was rooted in his traditions and past until God called him.

Jeroboam was promised blessings IF he obeyed God. But he committed a “fatal flaw” along with many of his descendants. As we examine this let it be an object lesson for us and how we should live and lead our lives and not point the finger at how others should lead their lives.

With people as well as nations there have and always will be disputes, strife, un-forgiveness and warring factions. These problems often end up never being resolved for years, generations or even millennial. True reconciliation is needed to bring closure on these problems.

We are all under various authority or subordination to both physical and spiritual authorities. Submission to authorities is important in our Christian walk; this enables us to submit to higher authority. Let us keep this in perspective during our Christian walk.
