Thanks for pointing out the order of the Psalms. God is not the author of confusion. Interestingly, the number 22 is the Bible numeric for Light. Psalm 22 deals with Christ--the Light of the world-- as He was about to die for all humanity. The order of the Psalms is inspired, just like the whole Bible is ordered into 49 books, not 66. This is shown in the Faithful Version (AFV): The Holy Bible in its Original Order.

Mr. McNeely, you did not mention a Church of God translation by Fred Coulter, The Holy Bible in Its Original Order---A Faithful Version with Commentary. Could you comment on this Bible translation?

    Kathy,

I really liked how you handled your "hostile" coworker. Yes, there is nothing to gain in arguing with someone's deeply held belief. You were very wise, Kathy. :)

Mr. Berendt, when my wife and I attended our first Sabbath service 45 years ago in Youngstown, Ohio, and within two months we had a Bible Study on the Inspired Order of the Books of the Bible. That was our first exposure to the actual order and 49 books of the Bible. Sixty-six in Bible numerics is the mark of man while 7x7 =49 is divine completeness. Luke 24:44 gives the mind of Christ on this issue---the Law, Prophets and Psalms. It was brother Jerome of Latin Vulgate fame that gave us the 66 books. Now, I hope you will repent in dust and ashes! :) Otherwise, I loved the point of your short article. By the way, I have 10 grandchildren. You beat me by 4! Glad it is not 6 :)

As an economist, I could not agree more with Mr. Berendt. Incentives matter! Enabling someone in their laziness, or addiction, or some other negative attribute will not produce good fruit. Yes, it is more loving to to encourage individuals to "come to grips" with their problems, than to supposedly "love them" by encouraging them to stay in their addiction.
Thanks Mr. Berendt for revealing the Biblical truth that poverty is often a mind-set.

Thanks Gary. I was not aware of Hetty Green. If I can, I'd like to make one economic point since you quoted Proverbs 11:26 as an application to Hetty Green's life. An economy grows as savings are channeled into investments, that is, profitable investments. Her life was one of doing just that in the extreme! She did not "withhold grain" to her neighbors. In fact she supplied numerous products and services (by business expansions) through her life-long habit and passion for savings-investments rather than personal consumer spending. We ought not curse her for that attribute, but, on the other hand, we ought to "curse" her other personal habits and attributes, as her failure to help her son with needed surgery. Yes, those habits certainly were distasteful if not despicable. I think the distinction is important. Engaging in Savings and Investments are essential means and an important individual attribute to provide "grain" to our fellowman. I believe few understand this economic and Biblical principle.
