Perhaps I’m digging for symbolism as well , and maybe what I think was unintentional but I think it’s cute how Mr. Jonathan works at a toaster factory and that Jelly’s name is Jelly . Toasters are for bread , and what do kids love to put on toast ? Jelly ! Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. I think this is an appropriate , palatable way for children to digest the word . Sometimes a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down , or in this case a smear of jelly on the bread of life .
