Thank you David for taking the time to let me know you appreciated the article. The proverb really spoke to me about the need to show honor to our parents and not hold mistakes against them. Many, if not all, can look back to things our parents did that were less than perfect and our children will do the same.

    Francisco,
I have a son around your age.
I try to look at the fact I was yelled at a lot as a child as a part of who I am. Would I have compassion for others who go through this if I had no first hand experience?
My abusive dad died young and my mom became a gentler person as she aged, but still made critical hurtful remarks to me. She was unable to comprehend that they were hurtful.
I struggled with respecting the hard work my mom did as a single parent and the apparent mental breakdown she went through when she knew it was all on her. I now realize the struggle she faced and the less than perfect childhood she had.
I do not think it is healthy to allow a parent to continue to be abusive toward us, but I just look for the things I can understand and respect.
It sounds like you have made a life for yourself where you know you did not deserve the negative childhood you had.
The scars of childhood run deep and like a scar on the outside, they never really go away. All we can do is realize we do not have to be shaped by those scars all of our life and ask God to help us not keep them as an open painful wound.
I will add you to my prayers.
    Kathy

Excellent post Lorelei. This is covering some of what has been on my mind and I need to meditate on it more.

I made it clear that I believe the Council of Elders in UCGIA did what was supposed to happen. It was never a question in my mind that I would go with the ones who caused the division. Without going into details, I saw what was being said on United We Stand and knew it could not be of God. This was nothing like what happened in 1995 where WWCG left the truth. United never left the truth, even though our leadership was being accused of it.
Proverbs 6:16 These six things the Lord hates,
Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
    17 A proud look,
    A lying tongue,
    Hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that devises wicked plans,
Feet that are swift in running to evil,
19 A false witness who speaks lies,
And one who sows discord among brethren.

Eric Whitacre does virtual choir films where he has gotten people from all over the world to sing the different parts of his songs and then submit a video. These videos made me think about how it would be if we had people from all over the world submit a short video saying have a wonderful feast or something similar, each in their own language, and then play it during the feast.

Thank you for your comment Kathy. I did not know the yellow journalism began with Hearst. I remember when I was a child feeling sorry for other countries because their news was propaganda-now we face the same here.
I think if we can recognize when we are responding to stimuli rather than in a way that is heartfelt and thinking of others, we will stop, think, and show the brotherly love we intend. That requires allowing ourselves to be molded by the Holy Spirit and patterning ourselves after Christ and as you said putting on the whole armor of God.

Thank you Eric-a reminder for me too. We don't always mean things the way they are taken, and should be careful about tone.

Virginia thank you for your comment. Once we can see the truth, it is hard to understand why others do not. Satan deceives the whole world, and we too were once deceived. Many are convinced by the counterfeit religion that Christ did away with the 4th commandment, but Jesus said He did not come to destroy the law. He said til heaven and earth pass away not one jot or tittle would pass from the law. We are not to add to it or take away from it.

Steven thank you for your insightful comments. I remember when the new $20 bills came out they did not seem like the real deal at first.
It takes constant diligence to recognize the changes in the counterfeits Satan palms off on society. If we are not careful we can get caught up in the false reasoning used to justify things abhorrent to God. The Bible is our only source to identify what is real and what is fake.
I have often thought that perhaps the tares do not know they are tares. It concerns me I could be a tare if I don't stay close to God and diligent about seeking His will in my life.

We went through the same dilemma. For years my husbands aunt bought us a collectible Hallmark ornament that remained in their boxes tucked in the back of a closet. When she passed away, we began to think about whether we should keep these "idols" in our home. I ended up taking them to a silent auction for a fellow worker who had severe health issues and we were trying to raise money for her medical expenses. This way we felt maybe some good could come from his aunt's good intentions and decided people would buy ornaments whether we put them up for sale or threw them in the trash.

I am sorry this has happened to you Lorelei. It is one thing to unfriend someone-but another to respond as they did when you sought understanding. I hope this is not someone you interact with in person. Realize it is their problem and not yours. As we move closer to the time of the end, I hope people will take time to realize we are all in this together and true Christians will be known by our love for one another.

    Nadine,
You have a very caring and gentle heart.
I wish to show a different perspective about Jim.
My husband was very angry when he found out about the pagan origins of the holidays and that most Theologians were aware of it. He was very disillusioned. I ask why did Jim find it necessary to show what he called the other side on our forum-when his is not the rest of the story-ours is. He only gave the same excuses many others use, and the verses he gave were a shallow interpretation that did not investigate the context, and definitely do not give carte blanche to choose when and how to worship God.
We had a man attend our congregation who quickly began making statements that did not align with our teaching. Our pastor told him he would need to keep those opinions to himself and the gentleman chose to not come back. I am sure his explanation of what happened might differ from what our pastor told us. With only Jim’s side of the story, I am inclined to believe the shepherd was protecting his flock. Why did he want to go when he doesn’t accept the Sabbath as binding?
I sincerely hope Jim will put aside his preconceived ideas and ask God in humble prayer to guide him.

Thank you for the update on this work of God. The realization of just how far the message of the kingdom can travel is mind boggling. We thought we were reaching much of the world through radio and television in the past, but now the capability is there to reach people in countries that were hardly possible before. Even under strict regimes, people are able to access things on the internet that were strictly regulated in the past. It is humbling to know we can be a part of this end time message from God to a world that is stumbling in darkness, and actually be able to reach all people as never before. The Gospel of the Kingdom being preached to all the world as a witness is rapidly coming in reach even with such a small organization as we are.

When you teach that Christmas is a Christian celebration you are teaching as doctrine a commandment of men. The closest thing to that celebration you will find in the Bible is in Jeremiah 10. The days that God called His days are clearly spelled out and you will find that the New Testament church-Jews and Gentiles-kept them.

Jim, It is clear your intention is to use our forum to advance your incorrect interpretation of one scripture. Since your mind is made up, I am addressing this to the ones like the Bereans. Acts 17:11 These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.
God has clearly spelled out days He said to worship Him that are not tied in any way to the worship the heathen had in worshiping their gods.
2 Kings17:15 And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the Lord had charged them, that they should not do like them.
Matt. 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
God is looking for the few and brave willing to avoid the way of the many.
