I’d like to also echo the comment about the importance of staying close to God to avoid evil influences today. We know that God’s word is truth (John 17:17) and with this truth comes ways to stand against the influence of evil. We are to look to God for the strength to battle evil thoughts and temptations. And as we draw near to Him, God grants us power to overcome and resist the spirit world. James 4:7 “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” Our thought patterns must change as well. We must work to bring our every thought into captivity (2 Corinthians 10:5) and as we do this, we can then change our thoughts to those that are helpful and beneficial to us today. These are the thoughts that are from above as stated in Colossians 3:1-2 “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” Seek God and ask Him for help in avoiding evil and He will provide the strength to do it!
