The Greatest of These Is Love

Love binds all the other spiritual gifts and traits and fruits together. God has poured out His love on us; we should then extend that love to others in actions and deeds. Love is exemplified by keeping Gods commandments; the fruit of the spirit is a result of love.

Step out of the Boat

We can examine the story of Peter walking on the water to Christ and learn more than we usually do in a cursory look at the story. Peter did actually get out of the boat, none of the others did. Fear, worry, doubt, and human reasoning are enemies of faith that can overwhelm us if we let them.

As human beings we tend to make judgements based on outward appearances. God looks at the heart, looking at our inward motivations and focus. We need to work to bring our hearts into line with what God desires and develop the godly characteristics He is looking for.

Joses was called Barnabas, a nickname meaning "Son of Encouragement". He was able to see others' potential and come alongside and help them when many were unable to see past the person's reputation.

Salvation in No Other

A false idea that has been promoted from antiquity is that salvation can be achieved apart from Jesus Christ, that it's simply enough to be a good person, perhaps even while following another god. Scripture is clear that the only path to salvation is through Jesus Christ.
