Thanks Daryl, for listening. Thousands of innocent people were killed in the terrorist attack in NYC in 2001. While God knows the “end from the beginning,” that doesn’t mean that everything that happens is result of God’s direction or intervention. The principle of Ezekiel 33 shows that God does not punish unless sufficient warning is given by the watchman. I encourage your study of this chapter. No doubt the United States has greatly departed from God’s commands, but in my view, we shouldn’t underestimate the extent of God’s warnings to the descendants of Abraham in the future. As to the current viral outbreak, it pales in comparison to the 100 Million who were killed worldwide 100 years ago. While both present with horrible outcomes, we also had 60,000 killed several years ago with the H1N1 flu season. I do not believe God directed any of these events either. Tragedy is part of this world and has been since the disobedience of Adam and Eve. God has allowed man to direct his way since then. He has intervened in history, for sure, mostly to help Abraham’s descendants to realize blessing, not curse.

Hi Mr. Tompkins: I don't disagree with your assessments above. The United States is divided -- and has been throughout its history to one degree or another (North/South, etc.) The United States is obviously divided today politically. There is a battle going on between those who want and look for traditional values, and now openly Socialist political leaders intent on giving away God's blessings. I don't think I used the term "American Superiority," but it is the US Navy that still keeps shipping lanes open for the world, and the British Empire previously did. America, like all nations are flawed, and watching the US from the news media, which is aligned against traditional values, and fails to capture the fact that many reject socialism and object strenuously to abortion, murder, and all that you cite above. The President is trying to reverse that, as no other President in the 20th and 21st centuries. However, that would be very difficult for anyone to evaluate critically without being here. Thank you for your insightful comments.

Hi Jen, and thank you for your comment. Since I have been in the Church, the primary message regarding the 1st era of the Church was that "they lost their zeal and love for the truth." However, Christ actually commending them for their zeal in these areas. As I mentioned, the first casualty with splits and schisms are relationships. I believe this is the lesson for us today because we are admonished to listen to what the spirit says to "the churches." Stay tuned for more in the series, and thank you once again for taking the time to write.

Kotie: Thanks for your comment. The Holy Spirit does indeed work in us, but take note of Paul's instruction to Timothy: 1 Timothy 4:14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. 2 Timothy 1:6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. Thus, there are things we can do that help accentuate the gift of God's spirit, which was the intent of the message. Thanks again, Steve
