[Steve Myers] In Luke chapter 14 it tells us we need to be all in (Luke 14:26-33). That's that passage that says we should hate father and mother, brother, sister, yes your own life we need to hate when we come to Jesus Christ or we can't be His disciple. Now we know that means we've got to love all of those other individuals less than God. God's got to be number one is what Christ is telling us. And then He tells us to be all in.

We've got to have the commitment, the dedication to count the cost. We've got to have the resolve to take our 10,000 troops against an army of 20,000 - twice as many. And so we've got to be all in, and I think that's part of the lesson of Luke chapter 14. But you know there's more to being all in than just the resolve and the commitment. Part of the challenge in Luke chapter 14 is to realize, "Wait a second, do I really have enough to finish this tower? Can I really be all in all by myself of my own accord, of my own thinking?" You see, Christ said, "Are you able with 10,000 to come against 20,000?" (Luke 14:31) You know, what's the logic behind that? No way.

There is no way you're going to win a battle with 10,000 troops against 20,000. Just attrition will wipe you out. And so part of the lesson I believe in Luke chapter 14 is the fact, yes, we need the resolve. Yes, we need the commitment. We have to be all in, but really what are we all in to?

You see, the fact that the only way I'm going to build this tower is through Jesus Christ. The only way I can win against twice as many is through Jesus Christ. That's the only way it's possible. And so it turns this whole thing around in our thinking to realize we have to be all in to Jesus Christ. Without Jesus Christ as first and foremost in our lives there is no way we're going to build this tower. There is no way we're going to win this battle. So what do we need to do?

We need to pray and ask God to help us every day to put Christ first and foremost in every aspect of our life. That's all in.

That's BT Daily. We'll see you next time.
