Sometimes our trials take a different turn. What's God's perspective?

Transcript

[Steve Myers] Have you ever been in the circumstance that you've prayed to God and asked Him to remove the trial from your life? You know God can do that, and oftentimes does. But you know the Bible also indicates that sometimes instead of changing our circumstances, God changes our heart. He changes our perspective on our circumstances.

A passage that indicates this is over in 1 Corinthians 10:13. He says this, "No temptation has overtaken you," or that word can be translated trial, "No trial has overtaken you except such as is common to man, but God is faithful who will not allow you to be tempted," or tried, "beyond what you're able, but with the trial," or "with the temptation, He will also make the way of escape that you may be able to bear it." Now 1 Corinthians 10:13 certainly reminds us of that.

Sometimes God takes the circumstances away. Sometimes He takes the trial, the difficulty, the temptation, and He removes it and it's gone. But you know the passage also says that sometimes rather than proportioning that difficulty to our strength. Sometimes He gives us the strength in proportion to the trial. So He actually reverses the process. Sometimes He gives us what we need to endure the difficulty. And that's going to take a change of heart. So, sometimes circumstances change. Sometimes our perspective on that trial changes.

So I think it's important to remember that's something to pray about. Sometimes we've got to remember to ask God to remember the promise, the promise that He'll either take that trial away, or He'll give us the strength to endure it. Now maybe what we could pray then is to ask God to lead us in whatever direction that may take. And so remember 1 Corinthians 10:13. Sometimes a changing of circumstances, sometimes a change in our heart.

That's BT Daily. We'll see you next time.
