What experience has impacted your life the most? The Bible identifies the most significant happening we can experience.

[Steve Myers] Have you ever been there when someone was experiencing the most important moment of their life? Something that was the most significant event that would happen to them in this world? We had that opportunity over the weekend—two individuals were baptized.

Now you might think, well, why is that so significant? Because it is a life changing event. It is an event that changes everything for the individual that comes before God, accepts Jesus Christ as their Savior, and commits their life to Them. And this is such a monumental thing. And the Bible tells us that it is the most significant thing that we can do. And it's so representative and so symbolic of some things that are really just amazing in God's spiritual plan.

The book of Romans talks about this. In Romans chapter 6 it describes this fantastic symbolism behind baptism—and in fact it ties us into the spring Holy Day season as well. Let's notice what it says here. It says, "Do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death." That's Romans 6:3.  Into the death of Jesus Christ—we go under that water. We are immersed in the waters of baptism and it represents the symbolic death of our old person, of our sinful nature. And we leave them under the water and we come up out of that water and just like Jesus Christ was dead and buried in the tomb for three days and three nights, we are standing forth.

And like He was resurrected, we, in a sense, stand up and we are resurrected to new life. We're to be a new creation in Christ. Let's notice what it says in verse 4. It says, "Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death and just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life" (Romans 6:4).

Now you talk about a significant event, a life changing event. To be there when someone makes that commitment, they bury their sins, they stand forth, they have hands laid on them, they receive God's Holy Spirit—it is such a monumental event. They are off and running into the new life in Christ. That old man is crucified as Paul said here in verse 6 (Romans 6:6).  And they are no longer slaves of sin.

You talk about significance—it is an amazing event and it ties in with this time of the year.

Now, you can't tie in these events with Easter because you miss the symbolism—but when you tie them into the Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread, there is no doubt baptism and Passover, Unleavened Bread all are interconnected because Christ died, He was resurrected, and we can too. So baptism represents that—the death, the burial, the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Now, if you've made that commitment, now's the time to recommit at the Passover season to that new life that we can have in Christ. Now, if you haven't made that commitment, look into it. Find out about it. Don't turn to the emptiness of man's traditions, but look to the Bible and see how interconnected and how amazing the plan of God is.

That's BT Daily. We'll see you next time.
