[Darris McNeely] Yesterday's discussion out of the Financial Times where we were talking about the setback in the Euro, the European currency, and the still powerful American dollar as the international reserve currency led us to another discussion about what people are really looking for and the anxieties that they face today in the world. And based on what you read in the newspapers and what we see a lot on television in discussion and debate talks, people are looking for hope. They are wondering have we gone too far in the United States or other parts of the world with some of our cultural wars, some of the battles that are being fought, the changes in government, lack of leadership. Is there hope, especially for America to pull back from the brink of a complete change that would reorder everything that we know? And you get that sense that people are looking for some answers and some leadership, but most of all that inner quality of hope.

[Steve Myers] It is a challenge because many of the emails we receive, people are concerned. They're concerned. They see things changing in their world and they're worried about it.

[Darris McNeely] They want to hear about the end time.

[Steve Myers] Right, they want to hear about the end time. When is it? Are we that much closer? Often that question comes through so many times. How close are we to the end? Or is there any hope? And we get to a point in our lives I think at times that it is depressing as you look at some of the news around us. We look at the reports, whether it's the economy or whether it's family situations or whether it's our own local issues that are going on, and it does lend itself to a lack of hope in the world around us.

[Darris McNeely] We do cover prophecy on Beyond Today a great deal and Bible prophecy, but the overarching theme that we're always trying to bring out is that prophecy should motivate us to a relationship with God and with Jesus Christ and to change in our own life that leads us to a righteous relationship with God. That is the only answer that we can do on an individual level. God's word is going to come to pass. We don't need to be fearful of a lot of things while we still watch and are very much aware and motivated to a sense of urgency, but an urgency to change our lives to relate to God.

[Steve Myers] I think that's part of the challenge for all of us because some things we can change in our life. We can make a difference, and we need to do that personally. But there's other things that we just have to stand back and we have to wait. In fact, the Proverbs (Psalm) tell us we have to wait and hope, and it tells us to look to God (Psalm 27:14, Psalm 33:20, Psalm 37:34, Psalm 39:7, Psalm 69:32; Psalm 130:5). And I think if we keep that foundation in our life, then we can handle the situations that life brings and have a focus and have a purpose as we realize God ultimately is in control.

[Darris McNeely] And then make the right decisions in our own lives that lead us to a level of righteousness that then clearly does see and understand the hope that does lie within a relationship with God. That's BT Daily. Join us next time.
