There are more accounts of hell and there are accounts of hell before the final judgement. Read the story of the poor Lazarus and the rich man. Jesus himself says: "And the rich man was taken to hell to be tormented , and Lazarus to heaven to comforted". And from hell the rich man cries out and says: "Lazarus bring me a bit of water to quence my thirst!But Abraham says: This is not possible as between us and you it is a wall that cannot be passed"

Also in another place hell is described as the outer darkness saying : and he was trown in the outer darkness where is the neverending clenching of the teeth.

You are confusing the lake of fire with hell first of all. Second there is no place where it states that the lake of fire destroys the ones that are in it.
Read the Scriptures more carrefully!
