The most chilling mysterious figure of Bible prophecy is the Antichrist. Would you recognize this personality? How will this powerful, evil enemy of Christ appear on the world scene?

Scripture also describes the Beast and another called the False Prophet. Do they have anything to do with the Antichrist?

End time prophecies show that religious people will be deceived into accepting a counterfeit Christianity. Could this happen to you? You need to know the Bible and what it really says about the Antichrist.

Stay tuned to Beyond Today as we examine what could involve your future and the incredible truth regarding "Who is the Antichrist?"

Almost everyone has heard the term antichrist , but very few know what the Bible really says about it. Would you recognize the Antichrist? Does it only refer to some future evil archenemy of Jesus Christ at the end of the age?

It's important to read the Bible for what it actually says and believe the truth. Does antichrist apply to a specific prophesied figure or not?

Did you know that in the Bible, the word antichrist is mentioned in only four places? And they are all in the apostle John's letters.

The word anti means against, or adversary of, or in place of.  So, the Antichrist means against Christ or adversary of Christ or in place of Jesus Christ. In 1 John:2:18, it says, "it is the last hour; and as you have heard that Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come."

In other words, many antichrists have already come. So, should the meaning of the term antichrist be limited to just the end time? Just the future? We see that passage says, no! The age of false teachers, the age of counterfeit Christianity, was already well under way by the time John wrote this.

We're told that there are more than one, and that they had been on the scene already when John wrote this almost 2000 years ago.

Did you notice something else about that passage? John also talks of one Antichrist. "You have heard that Antichrist is coming." You see, he uses the singular word--antichrist. It's interesting to note that when the word antichrist is singular, the original Greek doesn't indicate whether or not, in English, we should capitalize it. So, it's possible for antichrist to represent an individual person.

Now, John gives no indication of how this idea got started. In fact he says, "You have heard." Well, how did they hear it? Was it just a rumor? Did one or more apostles teach it? You see, we're not told exactly what they had heard.

So, some have speculated that Antichrist had become the popular terminology for what this prophesy was talking about. In fact an interesting prophecy over in of 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 talks about this. It says, "Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day"--talking about the Day of Christ's return--"that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition…who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God."

That's interesting because the word translated "opposes" literally means to be against, to be contrary to, or anti. No wonder this is why the man of sin that's mentioned here, is most often associated with the Antichrist. This end time False Prophet is a deceiver. He's a liar, a fraud, masquerading as a true minister! Revelation:13:5 describes this very same False Prophet. It says, "…he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority." No wonder the word antichrist itself became more like a proper name, representing all that was opposed to and contrary to Christ.

Now if we go to the second occurrence of the word antichrist in the Bible, it's found over in 1 John:2:22. It says, "Who is a liar but [the one] who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son."

You see here we find a general statement about this opposer. This passage teaches us that any liar, anyone who denies the crucial truth that Jesus was and is the Christ, the prophesied Messiah and Savior of the world, if anyone denies that, he is an antichrist. If anyone rejects and renounces Jesus, they are an enemy of both the Father and the Son.

Now when we turn over to the third occurrence of the word "antichrist," it's over in 1 John:4:3. It tells us that Antichrist is already in the world. Imagine--it's here right now! He says, "every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world."

You see it's of another spirit; an ungodly spirit, an attitude against, an attitude contrary, an attitude that's an adversary of Jesus Christ. So if it opposes Jesus, where does it come from? It originates from Satan, the same spirit that is in the False Prophet, mentioned back here in verse one. It says, "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world." You see it's evil to deny either Jesus being fully God or fully man.

It's interesting how this ties into that fourth occurrence of the word "antichrist." It's in 2 John:1:7. Let's notice what it says, "…many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist."

Would you recognize that kind of an attitude? Would you recognize that kind of an approach? God makes it perfectly clear that any teaching that contradicts Christ's identity, any teaching that denies the fact that He came as Immanuel, God in the flesh, God with us, any teaching that rejects Him as Savior of all mankind, is antichrist. And it says, the false teachers themselves are antichrists. They're opponents. They're enemies. They are adversaries of Jesus Christ.

It's no wonder that the Bible says that there is a past. There's a present aspect as well to this topic of the Antichrist. But did you know that's not the whole story. There is a threefold part to this prophecy--the future aspect, is what we'll discuss in just a moment.

Now how will these future events affect you? How will they affect your family? Is there a way to know what lies ahead? I'd like to offer you a free booklet that will help you discover the fascinating truth about the Antichrist and future events.

Now in a prophecy that's mentioned for the end time, for the time that lies just ahead, Jesus Christ warned us in Matthew:24:24. Here's Christ's own words, He said, "False christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect".

That's an amazing thing to think about. Would you recognize the ones that are antichrist? The Bible doesn't tell us exactly, it doesn't tell us specifically who the Antichrist is, but it does point to those corrupt teachings and their effect on you.

Back in 2 Thessalonians 2, we're told, "Let no one deceive you by any means…The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power…" It's with "signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved."

You see, that connects with what Jesus Christ Himself said. It shows that religious people, they will oppose many of the teachings of Christ. That includes professing Christians. Can you imagine that? Professing Christians will be deceived into accepting a counterfeit Christianity. Now, could you be fooled? Do you realize that even today many professing Christians have already been misled by a spirit of antichrist?

We're told, that there is one thing that can save you from being deceived; one thing that can protect you from being taken in. One thing can keep you from being fooled by this lawless one. What did it tell us? It said it takes a love of the truth! Now that means knowing the Bible and understanding what God's Word says and obeying the law of God. If you're going to avoid being deceived by this man of sin, this lawless one, you'd better know the law.

In fact that warning is expanded back in the book of Revelation 13. The chapter starts out by talking about a beast that represents a great empire that's just ahead--a government that will rule much of the earth. And then down in verse 11, it talks about another beast--describing a great religious leader at the time of the end. It says: "He had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon."

Now that's interesting symbolism. It's really amazing when you think about it, because it shows that this specific religious leader takes on the image of Jesus Christ. He appears like Christ. He imitates the Lamb of God, but he speaks like a dragon. In other words, his power is from Satan the devil. Now this is the same one who is called the False Prophet in Revelation 19--a great false religious leader. This is a counterfeit leader! A counterfeit appearance who brings a counterfeit version of Christianity. Could you be taken in by it?

Verse 13 says: "He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast."

Now, one day, just ahead of us, in the not-too-distant future, amazing miracles will come about. They'll occur so that everyone with hear about. It will convince even those skeptical people. Now can you imagine that? Can you imagine supernatural fire that will come down and destroy? I mean, it will be phenomenal! Other spectacular miracles will occur too. But many, many will wrongly believe that these miracles are from God. So here's the question: Will they convince you to follow the ones who perform them? Will you recognize the real power behind these lying wonders?

You see, the ultimate Antichrist is what's bringing these things about. The ultimate Antichrist is Satan the devil. This is a warning. This is a warning to you and it's a warning to me that Satan will work supernatural wonders from what will appear to be a reliable source. But the Bible says: "…no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light." So we've got to be on guard. We've got to be careful. We've got to know what's going on because the adversary's handiwork, Satan's handiwork, it will appear godly.

He's the one who deceives the whole world. That's what it tells us in Revelation:12:9, he deceives the entire world! He tried to tempt Jesus Christ to sin. He's tried so many schemes to destroy Christ and to thwart God's plan for mankind. So it will be Satan behind these false miracles. He is the father of lies. He's the dragon. He's the great deceiver. He is the one that will influence the Beast and the False Prophet at the end of the age and he will lure the world's great armies actually to fight against Jesus Christ Himself! (Rev:13:4; 16:13-14).

So what do we do? What is the antidote to lying wonders? What's the remedy to deception? Know what your Bible teaches and be prepared! Remember, those who fall for the deception of the Antichrist are described as those who did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved (2 Thess 2:9-10). Did you know the truth? Do you know it? Do you really know it? Do you love the truth? Does your life show that you are living the truth?

Remember Revelation:12:17. It describes God's true people, the ones loving and living the truth. Those are the ones, it says here, that "keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ." Are you one of those?

Pay close attention. Open your eyes. Scrutinize what's going on. Examine it! You see these so called miracles that will come about, they're done by those false teachers. Do they keep God's laws? Are they doing His commandments? Are they fulfilling His will? Or are they using those miracles as a hoax to trick people and cause them to follow a false religion that's opposed to God and His plan? Don't buy into it! Be on guard.

Remember, it's not only a future event. Even now Satan has corrupted the true teachings of God. So get to know your Creator. Follow Jesus Christ and study God's Word, then you won't deceived!

Now, most recognize that we live in a dangerous world. There is so much religious deception all around us. We're going to talk about that for a moment with fellow host, Darris McNeely.

Steve:

Darris, as we begin to think about getting into more specifically for our audience, the Antichrist. Can you explain more specifically what it is that we are talking about here? Maybe in simple terms?

Darris:

Well I think you did a good job from the Scriptures Steve. But the idea of a spirit of the antichrist is anything that essentially will remove the centrality of the focus on the gospel, on Jesus Christ. This is something that when you look into scriptures, was around from the very beginning that Christ entered history as the Son of Man. He continually fought attacks against who He was. His legitimacy was attacked. His status as the Messiah was continually criticized and attacked. After His death, there was doubt as to whether or not He even was resurrected. As the Church developed a few hundred years into the story of the Church, the very nature of Jesus Christ was challenged; whether or not He really was God in the flesh.

Steve:

So all of those things point of opposition to the truth…

Darris:

Opposition to the true mission, purpose and focus of Jesus Christ as the Bible from the Old Testament and New Testament reveal His centrality, His central focus, His central place within the plan of God, and within the focus of God. Any teaching, any effort to remove that or to deny that, would fall under the idea of the Antichrist or the spirit of the Antichrist. And John was already addressing that whenever he addressed it there, in his letters there, in the epistles to John.

Steve:

So we have got to make sure that when we think of this topic of the Antichrist, that we don't only think about it in terms of the future but all the way back in time there were these forces working against God and His way,

Darris:

While He was on the earth and in the days, months and years following His death as well. Now in the future, Christ Himself even spoke to that. In Matthew 24, He said, as one of the very first signs of the end of the age, He said beware of false christs, those who come in My name claiming to represent Me and saying I am the Christ. This was the concern that He pointed to, reaching down into history, as a problem that would erupt at the time of the end. And really what we are talking about, is, many, deception at many different levels. A mass spiritual deception that Jesus was talking about, that removes people again from the truth, of God's purpose and plan, focuses upon wrong concepts, wrong ideas, as well as even wrong, false teachings that claim to represent the teachings of Jesus Christ and his as the Kingdom of God, but He warned were completely false.

Steve:

Now when we put that in terms of what is coming down the line. There is deception right now--religious deception. Deception of people who consider themselves to be Christians!

Darris:

Yes.

Steve:

Now how does that tie in then with the future and this Antichrist that is just over the horizon?

Darris:

Well Revelation 13, you covered that scripture there, that talks about a False Prophet along with this individual named as the Beast. This concept that Revelation 13 talks about, of the False Prophet is this appearance of a charismatic religious leader in the time of the end who begins to create signs and wonders. He's actually talking about, it's actually talking about miracles by which he deceives the world, getting people to worship the Beast and this whole concept of this political religious combine that arises. That is a personification, this False Prophet.

Steve:

So we are talking about an Antichrist in that sense?

Darris:

At that stage in the history and in Bible prophecy, this spirit of deception is personified.

Steve:

And we see these miracles happening…

Darris:

And those miracles are probably the means by which there will be this mass deception because people want a miracle. A whole religious…

Steve:

Seeing is believing?

Darris:

Yes. Whole religious faiths are based upon miracles. People would love to see a miracle to strengthen their faith and it is the one thing that I think Revelation 13 identifies for all of us to understand, is a miracle does not and should not be the sign or the soul strengthener of our faith. In fact, Jesus himself would not get caught in that trap laid by the devil for Him.

In Matthew 4, when Christ was tempted by Satan, he said if you are the Son of Man, command that these stones be made bread. In other words, do a miracle to show who you are! Christ wouldn't do it. Then he took Him up on the pinnacle of the temple, and he said if you are the Son of Man, throw yourself off! Angels will come and gather You up in their arms. Again, another miracle to prove who you are--Jesus would not do it!

Now we find then, at the time of the end, there is this charismatic religious figure who deceives the world by lying wonders and by miracles. Don't get caught in the trap of looking for a miracle to be a sign of faith, to be a sign of truth, or to strengthen your faith, belief in God or anything about that relationship. That by itself, will not do it and is a sure sign from the Scriptures of this deception at the time of the end that again will turn people away from Christ and against His teachings.

Steve:

So as we being to understand these things, it comes to a personal level as well. That, watch out that you're not deceived. That word keeps coming up over and over again through almost all of those passages. So, when we think about those in terms of this great deception, what can we do? How should that affect our lives right now?

Darris:

One wants to be very sure that they don't get caught into this deception. Probably one of the best things that you've already quoted from 2 Thessalonians 2 where again it talks about this man of sin, this whole concept of end time deception, and in that scripture in 2 Thessalonians, it talks about having a love for the truth--seeking out the truth of the Bible, the truth of the Scriptures, the truth about Jesus Christ and His role in the plan of God--all of that which is the truth. And Christ said Thy Word is truth! That is, having that love to find the truth, to seek the truth, and once it's found to hold onto the truth, is one of the best anecdotes to this deception at the time of the end.

Steve:

One of the interesting things that I think about right near all those passages we quoted that talked about the Antichrist, used that word, right near those passages are those quotes where John said, you know, the love of God is keeping His commandments. If you love God, keep My commandments. There is a law that we need to be doing that's showing proof of what we really love, what we really believe is true.

Darris:

The commandments, the ten commandments, are certainly God's basic, eternal, spiritual, immutable law that help to define a true way of life in relating to God, relating to our fellow man, certainly our beginning point, and in fact it's one of the things at this time of the end time deception, Revelation 12 shows is going to be a sign or a marker of the people who Satan, the dragon, goes after--those who keep the commandments of God! So there is, there is a very real part that the commandments play in walking in and holding to a way of life that is the truth and loving the truth that defines God.

Steve:

And that's a challenge. To be able to sort out all of those various prophecies and then apply them to yourself, apply them to me, so that we do the truth! Not just know the truth, but we've got to do the truth. In fact, we hope that you'll remember our free offers today, because it helps you to understand what the Bible says. So finally, mankind's governments will be replaced by the wonderful Kingdom of God that will be established right here on earth. We have so much to look forward to, when Jesus Himself will reign and rule forever! (Rev:11:15).

The Antichrist was Adolf Hitler. The first beast was Imperial Germany; the second was Nazi Germany. The name of the beast whose number was 666 was Deutsches Reich, 'German Empire', the official name of Germany from 1871-1945.

We have been UCG members for a couple of years but have ALWAYS been disappointed about how 'watered-down' and generic our sermons and commentaries are.

Why don't UCG come forward and tell us WHO the anti-christ (The mystery Babylon is the Catholic Church!!) is??? All scriptures AND obvious evidence point to who the anti-christ is but yet UCG seems to be afraid/reluctant to come forward in these information? The shepherd is supposed to protect and nourish the flock. But yet we as members feel deficient in our learning.

For instance, you write:
"In fact that warning is expanded back in the book of Revelation 13. The chapter starts out by talking about a beast that represents a great empire that's just ahead--a government that will rule much of the earth. And then down in verse 11, it talks about another beast--describing a great religious leader at the time of the end. It says: "He had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon.""

Does the UCG already know who this government/empire is? Does the UCG already know who the great religious leader is? For a church that has Mr. Armstrong as a founder, I find it hard to believe if the answer is 'no'. If the church does not know the identities of these end time personages/entities, it will be very troubling for us indeed as members.

You write "Pay close attention. Open your eyes. Scrutinize what's going on. Examine it!" but yet we, church members are left to find our own way and grope in the dark without your guidance. Had we not been studying diligently the bible and really opening our eyes to perceive the signs and happening in our world and linking them to the bible prophecies, we will be left in the dark until the anti-christ comes and we still wouldn't know what hit us.

To know your enemy is half the battle won. To know his name is having an upper hand.
Do not be afraid by trying to be neutral or maintain your 'popularity' because Jesus Himself said that the church WILL be persecuted.

Please nourish your flock now and be more focused in sermons/commentaries. Generic statements just will not cut it in these dire times.

I liked the video. You wisely avoided speculation about who the satanically inspired antichrist leader is/will be. Instead you focused viewers on a provable truth from the Bible--how not to be deceived by Satan and his spirit of antichrist (i.e., know the law of God; love, know and do the Truth as revealed in the Bible). Well done.

Larry Walker

I am writing in response to UC, who wrote that our commentaries are "watered down" because we don't identify who the prophecies refer to, even though we allegedly "know" who the Antichrist is. Do we know? Or do we think that we know? Many think that they know when Christ will return. Harold Camping is one of the most recent examples. Many years ago in our church, many thought Christ would return in 1975. In both cases, the conclusions were incorrect.

There is a difference between predictions and prophecy.

In the Olivet prophecy, Jesus gave many things to watch for in world events that lead up to the time of his return. What He gave were trends, not specific times or names or places. But He prefaces this information with the warning to "Take heed that no one deceives you." (Matthew 24:4). Many have been deceived by predictions that didn't come true.

The Bible urges all Christians to "watch" (meaning to be vigilant)--not just to the signs of the times but also to avoid being deceived.

We preach Bible prophecy but are careful not to make predictions, by putting names or dates on Bible prophecies.

UC I'd like to ask you what congergation you attend? How often do you attend services? Who is your pastor? If you can answer these question you can be sure we have the answer. As far as the antichrist goes who it is no one knows yet. Look to Turkey, there Prime Minister is trying to broker a peace deal with Israel. It will more than likely take a Muslim to broker a peace deal. No American or European will be able to garrantee a total sieze fire from all radical Islamist only one of there own.

Darris don't you really mean false gods when you say people will come in "he" christ name. Since christ is god aren't these false christ really false god's?

An outstanding job in presenting the biblical elements of who and what is the AntiChrist! God's Word (the Holy Bible) is Truth (John 17:17) and ALL of the Scriptures, from Genesis to Revelation, are given by inspiration of the Great God (2 Tim. 3:16). The exhortation to embrace and hold fast to the Truth of God, as well as, live it--was a powerful key to avoid being deceived by antichrists-past, present, and future! Steve Meyers gave an excellent presentation and comprehensive overview of this important subject found specifically in 4 scriptures but magnified in various other passages. I look forward to the day, when Beyond Today.tv will be aired regularly on national/international tv to powerfully witness the spiritual education of God's Word to the world...say a 7:00 pm slot after the evening news!

As Bible readers like you and me, we ought not to be fast in pointing fingers as to who is the antichrist since many have been identified as such. We are confronted to date with the bigger fish to enter the "dragnet", which our Lord have set."For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, it will not tarry." Hab. 2:3. Paul has addressed this topic in his second letter to the Thessalonians 2:3-10. So we have to be patient, GOD IS IN CONTROL. Incidentally there were two nations who used the title Holy Roman Empire, Germany and Austria! Would you be surprised where Adolf Hitler came?

since the bible is so ambigious and was written and translated
several times via a number of languages "Gods word" or "Jesus words"were never written by Jesus (even while on earth WHY?)they were written by others so how can anyone believe that these ARE God`s words.and it`s funny how prophecies occur after the event.
Christanity,Islam, and Judism have created a very dangerous world,
for centuries wars have been fought in their names and many have died for WHAT!!!

A couple thoughts as to why Christ didn’t write down His words. The gospel is centered on the principle of witnesses. “By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established” (2 Corinthians 13:1). Also, Deuteronomy 19:15 says, “…A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.” If Christ had written His teachings, the apostles wouldn’t have witnessed to it. What we have wouldn’t be called a “testament” otherwise. Also, God chose to work through imperfect men to prophecy His Word, showing even more so His great power. Not to mention if Christ left anything behind that was physical, it would be worshiped and probably misused.
On translations, it is a miracle that God’s Word has been kept intact as it has been despite the passing of time and various translations. Paraphrased and meaning-by-meaning Bible versions need to be read with caution because the authors do have more leeway to infuse their own interpretations into the verses. The word-for-word translations are the best type to use in order to get to the best meaning from the Hebrew and Greek.
Prophecy means a foretelling of an event, so by definition prophecies are said/written before something happens. There are countless examples of these in the Bible including Christ coming as the Messiah.

i greatly enjoyed the program and i am s blessed to have found the truth and being able to test the scriptures and mditate on Gods words!! The ucg is doing an outstanding job and i think its wise to not label any specific person or organization as THE antichrist....we know what to look for and what to be aware of and at the end of the day i think thats all that matters....as long as we continue to search the scriptures and hold onto the truth with guidance from Gods Holy Spirit we will be just fine!! Thank you ucg and praise God for His mercy grace commandments and discipline!!

The Holy Bible is too prolific regarding clues to identify the antichrist- representing the civil and religious parts ( Rev. 13:1,11).Encyclopaedia Britannica, defined Rome as the City of seven hills (or mountain) Rev. 17;9, states: Here is the mind which has wisdom; The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. And ths symbol woman represents in this case a church, not the woman of Ch. 12 symbol for the nation Israel. How come that we observe Sunday as church mass day, whereas the seventh day was and is God`s sanctified day- the Sabbath, written by HIS own finger on tablet of stone handed down to Moses, a sign which no man should tamper. How come that the months September septa meaning seven,October octa meaning eight, November nona is nine, and December deca-tenth do not coincide? We are using the(Roman Pope) Gregorian calendar. The Hebrew calendar first month(Abib)- corresponds to Mid-March to Mid April (of the aforementioned Roman calendar),and the settings of times and obsevance of God`s Holy Feasts can not coincide to what we celebrate at present time see Lev.23. these are only a few of what this little horn in Daniels dream have altered.

We can't know for sure who he is at this time, however, there are criteria in Scripture that point to his character. Some believe he will be of Arabic distraction because of scriptures that refer to "the Assyrian". Others believe he will be from the EU because of the prophecies of being the seventh of 6 kings, the little horn rising from among the 10 nations, etc. One thing is certain, the man who stops the sacrifices on the Temple Mount and claims to be God will be that man of sin. The false prophet is most likely the pope of Rome. The current one has already embraced Islam and has a strong hatred for Israel, but antisemitisim is rampant in the Catholic cult and has always been. We must be wise and alert at all times so we will not be taken by surprise.

Chesedvemit

Chesedvemit's picture

The catholic church intentionally changed Sabbath to Sunday for a couple of reasons. One was to distance themselves from Judaisim, and the other was to mix Christianity with paganisim, something that they are very proficient at. Christmas day (Dec 25) for instance, was actually the birthday of the pagan sun god, Sol Evictus. Easter (Ishtar) was the spring feast to the pagan diety Ishtar, and was a fertility rite, complete with new clothes, bunnies and eggs. Perhaps in the beginning their intentions might have been good, attempting to bring pagans into the faith, but instead, what it did was to water down the gospel of Jesus Christ and paganize Christianity. . .then perhaps not. The only reason Constantine took the Name of Christ in the first place was to win battles. His shield had both the cross and the pagan symbol of Sol Evictus.

I agree that many shall be deceived, fall away but you seem to give the impression that Gods people will not be doing what Jesus and the disciples did, healing the sick raising the dead and operating in all 9 gifts of the Spirits as the glorious Church should be doing just before Christ comes for her?

What do you believe?

David L. Nunn

David L. Nunn's picture

Hello Decarlisle:

I am responding to your question about what UCG believes about all nine spiritual gifts being operational before the return of Jesus Christ. Since I am not a UCG pastor, minister (elder), or official UCG spokesman, I will limit my comments to what I believe as a 15 year UCG member. (However, I believe I have a good understanding of UCG's doctrines and practices).

I believe Jesus Christ voluntarily laid aside His immortality and privileges as the Son of God to be sent by God the Father to this earth to be born as a human, and to die as a perfect sacrifice for a world of helpless sinners. John 3:16. God the Father then resurrected sinless Jesus Christ to immortal life after He was in the grave for a full three days and three nights. Jesus Christ absolutely came to earth for this purpose. Matthew 20:28.

However, another often overlooked purpose of Jesus Christ's first coming was for Him to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. Luke 4:43. I believe the commission of the UCG is to also preach that true gospel (as Jesus and the Disciples did), making disciples of all nations, and teaching them to observe all things Jesus Christ commanded. Matthew 28:18. I understand this is the reason why UCG's seal states--"Preaching the Gospel/Preparing a People". Central to this true gospel is that Jesus Christ will return to the Earth to establish His government so that mankind (as a whole) may have a first opportunity for salvation and to enter the Kingdom of God. (This gospel is different than the "gospel" of men about the life/death/person of Jesus Christ taught and believed by most "Christian" groups today).

I said all of that to lead into this--many of the nine spiritual gifts listed in 1 Corinthians 12 are operational now in God's church. I have not personally seen or heard of the gift of tongues or interpretation of tongues being operational in UCG yet. However, I do not believe any of the nine spiritual gifts have ceased or "been done away with". I believe that all nine spiritual gifts will be practiced by the Church "decently and in order" before Jesus Christ returns (including tongues and their interpretation, as practiced in Acts 2). Announcing/preaching the coming Kingdom of God is the additional reason for Christ's first coming. Equipping the Church to continue preaching this gospel is the reason for these gifts.

There is a powerful false religion about to deceive the world as the saviour. This religion denies both God and Jesus to the extreme. There is a man arising who is promising great things. Fire from heaven could that not be nuclear fire? This religion is the evolution belief. This person and his followers deny both God and Christ and I see them as setting themselves up as gods. They are well educated in science, economics and politics.

The world is in a dire condition and these people declare they have the answer to our political problems and promise the world they have the means and power to save us from WWlll which may well be imminent as they so preach. They are promoting trust in them and I can see this probably being the man of lawlessness.

I live in Britain a country predominantly atheist. Not many are religious and as I see things the one religion I could have associated with has been infiltrated by a Satanic influence of miind control. The people associating do not realise how they have become manipulated. When this is evident a person can perhaps understand a little better how Israel and Judah became apostate turning to false worship.

Satan has infiltrated the whole inhabited earth with false prophets misleading the people. Atheists are his definite followers unless they open their eyes repent and turn around. Many are and will be decieved. I know I felt it would be great if what they said was true but if I were to put my trust in such people I would be denying God as my saviour.

Jaydee,

While it is true that the man of sin is about to step out and make his "claim for fame", it is not that he doeosn't believe in God or Jesus Christ, he will attempt to make people believe he is God & Jesus Christ. First, there will have to be an altar on the Temple Mount, then, according to 2 Thes 2, he will stop the sacrifices and claim to be God. These people, who are behind the NWO, are evil followers of satan. I have read that they already have their "man of the hour" picked out, and I would not doubt it even a little bit. The NWO is simply what they are calling the plans of the Illumaniti, an organization that was founded in 1776, a couple of months after the United States declared statehood. It is predominately run by the world bankers, such as the Rothchilds. It includes secret organizations such as the Masons, Builderbergs, Skull & Bones, Tri Lateral Union, etc. We have not had a president or very many congressmen at all who have not been members of one or more of thos organizations. It is prerequisite to being President and has been for many ,any years.
I am sorry that England is predominately athiest these days. Much of the world is in all honesty. People in America call themselves Christian, simply because their parents and/or grandparents were, but I dare say the majority don't KNOW God, but rather know of Him. Many of these will follow the antichrist when he comes on the scene doing signs and wonders.
"Christian" TV is full of wolves in sheep's clothing, as are many churches today who embrace ungodly lifestyles such as homosexuality, living together unmarried, abortion, the "name-it-and--claim-it prophets who are in for PROFIT, and every sort of evil. Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil!
The good news is that Jesus promised that he would not loose even one whom the Father gave Him. ALL who are His will come to Him! Hallellujah!

The Bible prophesies an end-time figure who opposes Christ, but the meaning of the term “antichrists” encompasses more than just this one person at the end time. This term literally means “against Christ” and is variously defined as “adversary of Christ” or “opponent of Christ” and as a title or proper name for a specific individual who opposes and claims to be Christ. The Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament Based on Semantic Domains by Louw and Nida offers a more comprehensive definition: “The term . . . appears to have become increasingly equivalent to a proper name as the personification of all that was opposed to and contrary to the role and ministry of Christ.”

According to John’s writing, there is a spirit of antichrist, which is a spirit of opposition to the identity of Christ. Specifically, he was writing to warn of the dualistic heresy that denied that Christ lived as a physical human being (1 John 4:3; 2 John 1:7).

In the first century, most people of Jewish background anticipated a Messiah who would come to the earth as a conquering king to establish the Kingdom of God. But they failed to understand that He would first come as a man who would become the sacrifice for the sins of mankind and they refused to accept Jesus as the Messiah. (The word “Messiah” is the Hebrew counterpart to the Greek word “Christ.”) Their doctrine was an example of a spirit of antichrist.

Today, many members of mainstream Christianity make the opposite mistake from the one that the Jews made by accepting that Christ became the perfect sacrifice for sin but denying His coming to the earth as a conquering king. So ironically, even that traditional Christian doctrine can be classified as “antichrist.” In that real sense, even today, many professing Christians actually have been deceived by a spirit of antichrist.

The Bible does not reveal the specific identity of the Antichrist, speaking instead of his corrupt teachings. In 2 Thessalonians 2, Paul prophesies of a “man of sin,” a liar and deceiver whose natural abilities Satan enhances by supernatural power in order confuse people in the end time. In addition, Christ inspires John to write of a “false prophet” to come at the end time (Revelation 13; 16:13; 19:20).

End time prophecy describes a great religious leader of the end time: “he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon” (Revelation 13:11). That i

How can you distinguish which is Christ and antiChrist? Look at all the fools who believed in Harold Camping's false prophecy. People need hope and are willing to believe ANY miracle whether or not it's from JChrist. Because they won't be sure what IS the truth. So most of us will be led like lambs to the slaughter. Not everyone is going to pick up a bible and try to make some sense of it. Betcha nuns and priests might fall for this antiChrist, believing it is HIM The Son of God. Hi folks!
Yes I know I sound just be quiet but I am not one to just sit in the sidelines and watch. As so many have learned about me resently.

Ok! Yes, brethern and unconverted can be decieved. How? Well, for one thing, how is your spiritual life style? Do you study the scriptures daily? There is lots to learn you just have to know what subject you want to study and move on from there.

As it has been told of old you do not give the meat to babes in the word of God. First the foundation of truth must be built. We must work on ourselves. Bringing ourselves to faith, repentance, baptism, laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Then change the dead works of the old man and it's bad habits. While attending Sabbath services, studying, practising what we learn, reading the booklets and materials the church makes available; we will not only be watching but making ourselves ready.
Has it not been said that not even our Savior knows when He will return? So with that said. Keep an eye on the Middle East and especially Europe. We have watchmen so stop complaining and move on. We have work to do both inside and out.

Great advice, Kars. We all need to work on our own flaws and insecurities. I am doing this daily. With respect to the Anti-Christ, I think this person will emerge from the EuroZone area. All this is interesting and demonstrates that man (male/female) is not in control of events. We are all AT-EFFECT. That is my view!

The Bible states that Adam was the first man. 1 Cor. 15:45, 47. Eve is called the mother of all living. Gen. 3:20. Adam and Eve were created about 6000 years ago. If there really were humanoid type beings on the Earth before that, whatever they were, they were not "man" . Regarding holidays, "no", we should not be like cloistered nuns. We should walk in the Truth of God's word, and that means not adapting pagan practices for the worship God. Jer. 10:2; Deut. 18:13-14; Lev. 20:23; Deut. 12:29-31. God will not accept this. We must not pollute God's name with that of idols. Ezek 20:39. Good does not come out of evil practices. James 3:11-12. Christ warned people that they could worship God in vain by holding to their traditions that are in violation of God's word. Matt. 15:9. Christians must be spritually separate from the world. 2 Cor. 6:17. UCG has an excellent booklet on the subject of holy days/holidays that you can download off of wwww.ucg.org. Thank you for your forum:
Since the word "anti-christ" mean not only against Christ but also means in place of Christ, we have had "anti-christ ever since the people of Israel ask for a human King. Saul was the first of many "anti-christ" and every person who is the head of a government is in a sense "anti-christ".
There will be a coming particular person who will be the "Beast" and as the Bible says will decieve the whole world. But the Bible also says that "And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days".

As for the fire that comes from heaven in the sight of the beast I believe that will be fire coming from a satellite which is already in place in the sky.

Why are you all looking beyond yourselves for the Antichrist? All of you commenting are friends and lovers of Saint Paul who actually is the Antichrist. He was from the begining antichrist,
Act 7:58 threw him out of the city, and stoned him. The witnesses left their cloaks in the care of a young man named Saul.
Act 8:1 And Saul approved of his murder. That very day the church in Jerusalem began to suffer cruel persecution. All the believers, except the apostles, were scattered throughout the provinces of Judea and Samaria.
Act 8:3 But Saul tried to destroy the church; going from house to house, he dragged out the believers, both men and women, and threw them into jail.
Act 9:1 In the meantime Saul kept up his violent threats of murder against the followers of the Lord. He went to the High Priest.

When he realized he could not destroy the religion he decide to join it and destroy it from within because as it was said"the pen is mightier than the sword"

From within he started attacking the true desciples and brannding them false." 2Co 11:12 I will go on doing what I am doing now, in order to keep those other "apostles" from having any reason for boasting and saying that they work in the same way that we do.
2Co 11:13 Those men are not true apostles---they are false apostles, who lie about their work and disguise themselves to look like real apostles of Christ.

According to Gal 2:11 But when Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him in public, because he was clearly wrong.
Gal 2:12 Before some men who had been sent by James arrived there, Peter had been eating with the Gentile believers. But after these men arrived, he drew back and would not eat with the Gentiles, because he was afraid of those who were in favor of circumcising them.
Gal 2:13 The other Jewish believers also started acting like cowards along with Peter; and even Barnabas was swept along by their cowardly action.

Paul himself said the Antichrist will be lawless. Who was more lawless than Paul: Jesus asked us to keep and obey all the laws and the commandments. Paul taught the abundonment and disobedience od the law ; 1cor 10:12, Gal 2:15-16, Rom 7:4-6, 1 cor 7:17-20.If paul is not the antichrist who else is? why are you going to look for your anti christ from among muslims, EU Pope etc etc when he is the very person you are all following as christians. You have negleted truth.

I'm glad to see this message. I've been looking around and becoming concerned. If messages are only about Christ's coming and the Millenium, people will think the False Prophet is that fulfillment.
Here's what I've learned in recent years. The new world order people are planing a fake return of Christ from the sky to Jerusalem. The individual has been chosen. A few years ago the news carried a picture of what a "typical Jew in Christ's time" would have looked like. That's who I'm expecting. (No it's not the Pope)
World crises will be manipulated, a planned rescue and solution will be brought in (no matter if it's a totalitarian communist world order), and I suppose they will say it's the Millenium.
It could start this year. There will be a new world monetary system this year.
How can you keep from being deceived? Well those who aren't the elect might be safer going along with it. But I always say the key to success is daily prayer, and not just 5 minutes. The carnal (antiChrist) mind despises that.

Never forget this scripture if your not sure who is the Antichrist is. Remember this description of him 2 Thes:2:3... and the man of sin (hamartia)shall be revealed,... and Sin is transgression of God's Law 1 John:3:4
In 2 Thess. 2:7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already working, only he is now holding back until it comes out of the midst. Lawlessness is translated anomia. A religious figure that will be teaching christianity in a deceptive way that is contrary to Christ's teaching of " But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments. " in addition Mat:28:20 teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the world. Amen. Real Christians are to stop breaking God's law and start obeying them as he told Mary in John:8:11 Go, and sin no more. Once God opens your mind to realizes this, then you come to really understand that a Christianity that does not teach obeying God's Eternal Holydays and eternal law is in fact a Church that has been deceived while its members are unaware just as I once was. To Donald Swenson, I must with all due respect correct you on that because #1 you stated the problem with your own word which is

Human beings are not to interpret the Holy Bible because that is exactly why there are false doctrines in mainstream Christianity different churches and denominations interpret the Bible instead of as you mentioned Only God, our Creator, knows... That is the biggest error and one of Satan's many deceptions in studying the Holy Bible. The Bible is the most misunderstood in history. The most twisted, distorted, maligned, misrepresented and lied about. The answer is found in 2 Tim. 3:16-17. The scriptures are profitable for the purpose of reproving and correcting But how many people are willing to be corrected when they are in error.People simply do not like to be corrected. The main reason people can not understand the bible is found in Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. The carnal mind can not obey god. Psa 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a GOOD UNDERSTANDING have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever. To Donald Swenson, In regard to your comment: The Bible is a book with 'words'. Words must be interpreted. Who can interpret 'words' absolutely? We in the United Church of God know very well that the Holy bible interprets itself because like you stated " Truth is another name for God...why because "John 17:17 Sanctify them through Your truth. Your Word is truth. And who is the Truth? " John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by Me.Any one who tries to interpret the Holy Bible without using the Truth (Jesus Christ)will and have fallen into erroneus ideas such as keeping the first day of the week Sunday when the Holy Bible commands to keep Saturday Forever The Eternal Christian Sabbath Exodus 31:16-17 Forever means forever" Mar 2:28 Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the sabbath. God's Holy Days are Forever as well Leviticus 23. This is one of many doctrines that have been proven true. A Doctrine that has been proven False is Christmass Christ's Birthday is not in the Bible nor is it commanded. Clearly one of many Satanic deception. Another False Doctrine is the Rapture and Easter not found in the Bible A word of advice from God almighty " 1 Thess. 5:21 Prove all things, hold fast that which is good. And always use God"s very own words to interpret the Bible (all relevant scripture pertaining to the subject)because god expects us to. So be sure to Prove ALL Things Doctrines of the Holy Bible "Don't believe me believe your Bible"

How about giving these questions some serious thought:
1. What is meant by the word 'Creator' in our Declaration of Independence? Who were our founders thinking about when they used this word?

2. Did any of the following view Jesus, Yeshua, or similar as our 'Creator'? Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, James Madison, Thomas Paine, Benjamin Franklin, or John Adams? Why did none of the above view Jesus as God or Creator?

3. Did Jesus (Yeshua) view himself as 'Creator'? Was this person created or was he the Creator?

4. If you were to choose one 'name' or 'person' as Creator or God...who would you choose and why?

Think these question over before you respond. Thanks. D

What we need to recognize (in my opinion) is that we all fall short of perfection. Also, as you stated, we all interpret words with our 'carnal' mind. This means that NONE of us can provide any infallible meanings to 'words' which we read in a Holy Book (no matter how precise these 'words' might be). We are ALL 'sinners' and this means we are imperfect in 'mind', 'spirit', and being. Why should I represent myself as an infallible interpreter of 'words' (even if every word was dictated by God Almighty in our English language)? I am imperfect, a sinner at the core, and my understanding and knowledge is always MUCH LESS than our Creator's. So is anyone on this planet more righteous than I? If I am infallible, a sinner, and imperfect in mind, spirit, and being...then wouldn't others on this planet be in a similar situation? Think it over! Who, on this planet, can speak for God? I think we need more humility when it comes to our abilities and representations. D

@donaldswenson. Let us concentrate on the topic at stake and that is the Antichrist. I do not however agree with you that we should live by faith. Living by faith is the teaching of the Antichrist who is the "Apostle Paul as I have stated above.

According to Jesus in Matt 5:17-20"at 5:17 Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfil.
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished.
Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus again said in matt 19 17"at 19:17 And he said unto him, Why askest thou me concerning that which is good? One there is who is good: but if thou wouldest enter into life, keep the commandments.
Mat 19:18 He saith unto him, Which? And Jesus said, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
Mat 19:19 Honor thy father and mother; and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

Yet here is Paul teaching the contrary.Gal 2:15 We being Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,
Gal 2:16 yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed on Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law: because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Rom 7:6 But now we have been discharged from the law, having died to that wherein we were held; so that we serve in newness of the spirit, and not in oldness of the letter.

Who else can be the Antichrist if not Paul. He persecuted the church. He supervised the Stoning of Stephen. He insulted and rebuked the true disciples of christ
Rom 3:28" Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
James an apostle wrote in James 2:14-26
Jam 2:14Jam 2:14 My friends, what good is it to say you have faith, when you........ PONDER!

The message or gospel of Yeshua was the Kingdom of God. Let's think about this concept we call the Kingdom of God. Did Yeshua view himself as King or God? I don't think so! Yeshua, an Aramaic Jew, recognized the God of Abraham and the God of Moses as GOD. Yeshua, was born and then at 8 days old his parents dedicated him to the God of the Universe (YHWH or EL). He was circumcized according to the law of Moses and he became a disciple of God (Abba or Father). He promoted the Kingdom of God until his death. Modern Christianity is really an idolatry to the Gospel of Yeshua. Worshipping the messenger is a form of idolatry. Think it over! D

Hello Solomon,

Paul (who never claimed divinity, as the antichrist will) consistently preached against “lawlessness” (2 Th. 2:3-4 ESV):

“‘[A] man is not justified by the works of the law...’ (Gal:2:16, KJV)…[The] blotting out of transgressions [occurs] through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ. [However,] remaining justified [requires] continued obedience…Without the preexisting, unchanging law of God there could be no transgressions or sins—hence no guilt and no need for forgiveness and justification or a Savior…That justification [is] not…a reward earned by ‘works of law.’…But the eternal, spiritual ‘royal law’ of God (Jam:2:8) continues for Christians today. Regrettably, many twist Paul's words out of context to contradict statements he himself made. In Rom:2:13 Paul says emphatically, ‘Not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified.’ Justification is not even available to those who refuse to be ‘doers’ of the law—that is, the spiritual and eternal law of God” (“Circumcision vs. a 'New Creation' in Christ”).

http://www.ucg.org/booklet/new-covenant-does-it-abolish-gods-law/circumc...

“Salvation is a free gift by God’s grace, so we can’t begin to earn salvation. But God will not give grace to someone who is not repenting of his sins and is not submitting to God and His laws…If we don’t keep His commandments, a relationship with Jesus Christ will not, and cannot, exist…Whoever attacks God’s law is attacking God’s person and His character” (“The Law---God's Design for Our Lives”).

http://www.ucg.org/doctrinal-beliefs/law-gods-design-our-lives/

This excellent sermon explains the relationship between law & grace: http://members.ucg.org/sermon/do-you-love-law-god

“(Gal:2:16)…Our faith in God drives us to repent of our sins and be baptized. At this point, we are forgiven by God’s grace…We continue to remain righteous in God’s sight when we continue to obey and live by His laws, and repent, confess our sins and ask for forgiveness whenever we slip up and sin (1 Jn:1:9). We become converted to the mind and conduct of Christ (Php. 2:5)…[T]hrough daily faith, sincere repentance and loving obedience…we will be considered justified, or righteous, in God’s sight” (“What Does It Mean to Be Justified?”).

re: Paul being the anti-christ:
A short comment to Solomonblueman. If we believe the Bible is inspired by God, then we must believe that God would protect what is in the it.
You say u dis agree that we must live by faith. the bible says that the "Just shall live by faith". also it says in Hebrews "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him".

The Bible also says the law is for the lawbreaker, in other words you are not under the law until you break it.

Do you, Solomonblueman, or any that says we are under the law keep the whole law. Do you still do animal sacrifices for your sins. do you go to Jerusalem to do the sacrafices in the temple. I think not since there is no temple now but the temple of your body which is the temple of God.

Hi
Interesting conversations going on regarding this subject some of it going off on a tangent some what!

We all have to be careful when reading scripture to make sure we take what is written in its full context not just what we want to read/hear to suit our point of view (like the BT Daily last week regarding did Jesus change the food laws)
The anti Christ is an unknown person at this time so can not be named, however like Hitler this person will rise up very quickly and take an unsuspecting world by storm, we in the UCG as written have to watch and not get caught sleeping with our lamps half trimmed.
As regards the UCG not preaching the word of God forcefully enough I disagree as the church has consistently up held the word of God and his laws/prophecies in a world that has forgotten their creator. the law of God is absolute and his holy days and sabbath rest are clearly written in Lev 23 for all who want to see it and follow it.
Mans holidays are pagan and should not be followed as they only lead to our down fall.
Paul is not the Antichrist he was an imperfect man who through great upheaval in his life and soul searching realise the true word of God and did what God commanded of him.
The end time prophesied events are in the scriptures not for us to second guess but to guide us what to watch for so we are ready when each one clicks into place.
Looking at world events the King of the south will arise soon once each of the countries in that area have realigned themselves so to speak. Europe will get smaller but will become the beast power as prophesied but it's leader is yet unknown.
The simply thing to do is keep Gods commandments, repent and be baptised with the laying on of hands. It is not easy in a world which hates God but with God nothing is impossible, after 39 years of keeping his word with some blips along the way I can verify he does exsist and has great love & mercy for all of us who will listen and do his commandments.
God be with you until we meet again.
Stuart

Then James explains how the true Christian must not merely believe in God, but must surrender to God's will and do what He says James 2 20–23). James writes: "You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only" (v. 24).
"Justified by works?" Yes—along with faith! Read verse 24 for yourself. It should be very clear that true Christianity involves more than just accepting, in faith, Christ's death—which is a free gift from God—as full payment for our sins. When we accept Christ's sacrifice, we must also make a literal "covenant with our Creator" to quit sinning in the future to truly surrender to let Christ live His obedient life in us through the Holy Spirit! For, God's inspired Word tells us: "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law" (1 John 3:4, KJV). So we must repent of sin, repent of breaking God's spiritual Law, the Ten Commandments. This involves a life of humble obedience.
Let us understand that no one can ever earn salvation—it is God's gift! The true grace of God leads to the gift of salvation (Ephesians 2:8–10; Romans 6:23). Those willing to obey God (Acts 5:29, 32) and who are under true grace will be God's "workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works" (Ephesians 2:10). God's grace does not eliminate the need for obedience and keeping God's commandments. The Apostle Paul warned that one could "receive the grace of God in vain" (2 Corinthians 6:1). And while the Apostle Peter exhorted Christians to "rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ" (1 Peter 1:13), he continues with the expectation that we do so "as obedient children" (v.14 ) men cleverly misuse "grace"—teaching "cheap grace" without real repentance from sin—it is the very essence of the doctrine of the Antichrist! This false concept has allowed millions of professing Christians to go through life regularly and habitually disobeying the Ten Commandments—yet still assuming they are "good Christians"!
. For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ" (Jude 3–4). Notice that Jude warns of false teachers using the idea of "grace" as a vehicle for "licentiousness\—license to disobey Gos's Laws.

A WORD ABOUT SATURDAY AS BEING THE SABBATH FOR CHRISTIANS.
ACTS 15:19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

ACTS 15:24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:
ACTS 15:28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;

ACTS 15:29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

IT APPEARS TO ME THAT KEEPING THE SATURDAY SABBATH WAS NOT OF PRIME CONCERN TO JAMES IN THESE PASSAGES.

ALSO THE RECORDED TIMES THAT JESUS MET WITH THE APPOSTLES AFTER HIS RESSURECTION WAS ALWAYS ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK.

IN REVELATION JESUS SAYS HE IS THE BEGINING AND THE END SO I BELIEVE HE IS IN THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK SABBATH AND ALSO IN THE SEVENTH DAY SABBATH.

Hello Mr. Swenson,

In regards to the question: “Did Yeshua view himself as King or God?”

Jesus Christ knew who He was, even at the age of 12, when He felt the urge “to be about my Father’s business.”

Later, there was confusion among the Jews as to who Jesus was. One day, “…He asked His disciples saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” So they said, some say John the Baptist…Elijah…Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” And Simon Peter answered…“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus answered…“Blessed are you, Simon Bar Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven” (Mat. 16:13-17). Christ confirmed Peter’s words.

Jesus wasn’t confused as to who He was or where He came from. When a Jewish ruler slipped in one night suggesting Jesus was a Teacher sent from God, Christ revealed He had come down from heaven, and called Himself God’s only begotten Son (John 3:1,13)!

He was “God with us”—the Immanuel of Matthew 1:23 and Isaiah 7:14.

In John 8:14, Jesus said “I know where I came from and where I am going.”

When accused of blasphemy, Jesus asked the Jews (in John 10:36): “‘Do you say of him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming!’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God?’’”

He had no doubt who He was, the message He brought from the Father, and what the future would hold: “‘I came forth from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world, and go to the Father’” (John 16:28).

He remembered what it was like in heaven: “‘And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself with the glory which I had with You before the world was...for You loved Me before the foundation of the world’” (John 17:5,24).

He spoke of His return to set up His kingdom in Mat. 16:27: “‘For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father, with His angels, and then He will reward each according to His works.’”

Just as my son is part of our family, Jesus Christ is part of God’s family, and is called the Son of God. He will be King of King, and Lord of Lords!

So from Christ’s own words, He taught that He preexisted with, and was loved by, the Father in heaven—came down from heaven to earth—spoke God’s words (John 14:10)—would return in glory to the Father—and will come to earth in the glory of His Father.

Re: “Did Yeshua view himself as King or God? I don't think so!”

Did He view himself as King? “[T]he whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice…saying, ‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! ...’” Some Pharisees said, “‘Teacher, rebuke your disciples.’ He answered, "I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out” (Luke 19:37b-40, ESV 2007).

“19:36 ‘The crowds spread out their garments’ to show honor and homage to this royal figure (see 2 Kgs 9:13)” (NLT Study Bible, 2008)—“regal dignity” (Jamieson-Fausset-Brown); “indicat[ing] that a dignitary was being greeted…like ‘rolling out the red carpet’ today… [They] recognized…Jesus [a]s the promised King” (NKJV Study Bible, 2007).

Did He view himself as God? “Again the high priest questioned Him, ‘Are You the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?’ ‘I am [“I AM” – all caps – in NLT 2007, ISV 2008, MKJV, SSE, LITV; “I AM THE LIVING GOD” (Aramaic Bible in Plain English, 2010)],’ said Jesus, ‘and all of you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.’ Then the high priest tore his robes and said, ‘…blasphemy! ...’” (Mark 14:61b-63a, HCSB 2009).

“‘I am’…echoes the divine name [Ex. 3:14]” (HCSB Study Bible, 2010). “Or The ‘I AM’ is here; or I am the Lord. See Exodus 3:14” (NLT textual note). “Jesus…applies to himself messianic prophecies from Psalm 110:1 (cf. Mark 12:35-37 and Dan. 7:13-14)…he claims divine Sonship” (ESV Study Bible, 2008). “For the proof of his being the Son of God, he refers to his second coming” (Matthew Henry)—from “heaven” (Expanded Bible, 2011). Likewise, John 8:58—“‘before Abraham was born, I am!’”—is “A solemnly emphatic declaration echoing God’s great affirmations in Ex. 3:14 (see vv. 24,28; …6:35). Jesus…express[es] the eternity of his being and his oneness with the Father” (NIV Study Bible, 2011).

Lastly: “Though [“being in very nature God” (NIV 2011),] he chose not to cling to equality with God” but took on “the very likeness of humanity...God raised him up to the highest place and gave Him the name above all” (Php. 2:8-9, The Voice, April 2012).

To Larry 1127:

The Sabbath observance was not emphasized in the ruling at the Jerusalem Conference because it was not a point of disagreement--the early church knew to keep the Sabbath and was keeping it. (Murder is not mentioned either, but people don't assume it is now okay to murder). For more on the Acts 15 conference and what was actually decided, see UCG's booklet--The New Covenant: Does it Abolish God's Law.

http://www.ucg.org/files/booklets/pdf/the-new-covenant-does-it-abolish-g...

There are not two Sabbaths, only one, and it is the seventh day of the week (in modern terms, from Friday night sundown to Saturday night sundown). All of the so called proof texts for Sabbath being transferred to Sunday are knocked down very expertly in UCG's Sabbath booklet--Sunset to Sunset: God's Sabbath Rest.

http://www.ucg.org/files/booklets/sunset-to-sunset-gods-sabbath-rest.pdf

I was not raised in the UCG and used to not observe the the Sabbath. About 19 years ago though, God started to remove the veil over my eyes and showed me clearly that my Sunday ministers, teachers and handlers at the Sunday Church were blind and that the Sabbath was obligatory on Christians today. In fact, it is the test commandment. Exodus:16:4. (So no wonder that Satan has worked so hard to "do away" with it).

My view of scripture and the 'words' of Yeshua suggest (to me) that he did not view himself as God or Creator. Yeshua prayed to his God which he called EL (in Aramaic). Yeshua was an Aramaic Jew from Nazareth who was born, circumcized, and who then was dedicated to God (by his parents). At around 30 he chose to get baptised by his cousin, John. After this baptism, Yeshua, received a Spirit (from El or the Father) and this then caused him to be tempted by Satan. After this temptation he came out into the public and preached his Gospel, The Kingdom of God (his God). Yeshua was killed after his ministry and then all the fantacies emerged. The Church is preaching a message of fantasy and idolatry (in my opinion). What is needed today is to get back to the original message of Yeshua (Jesus) which was The Kingdom of God. Think it over. That is my view.

Well spoken Ivan Veller, you spoke the truth about God's Eternal, Royal Law. Paul also said "What matters is keeping the commandments "1 Cor. 7:19 and " Do we void the law through Faith ? for ALL those who twist 2 Gal. around.\, NO! We establish the law " or the ESV has it " Rom 3:31 Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law. In Pauls own words It's just as Ivan said. It is also written "1Jn 2:3 This is how we can be sure that we have come to know him: if we continually keep his commandments.
1 John 2:4 The person who says, "I have come to know him," but does not continually keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth has no place in that person.
1 John 2:5 But whoever continually keeps his commandments is the kind of person in whom God's love has truly been perfected. This is how we can be sure that we are in union with God:
1 John 2:6 The one who says that he abides in him must live the same way he himself lived. and if anyone truly loves Christ and God our all powerful Father Sovereign God of Heaven and earth must also, and " 1 Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome. 1 Jn 3:4 Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness, for sin is lawlessness.
1 John 3:5 And you know that He was revealed that He might take away our sins, and in Him is no sin.
1 Johnn 3:6 Everyone who abides in Him does not sin. Everyone who sins has not seen Him nor known Him. Heb 10:26 For if we sin ( and sin IS Transgression of the Law 1 John 3:4 )willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins,
Heb 10:27 but a certain fearful looking for judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. Paul said in Rom 7:12 So indeed the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and just and good. Not done away with. Matt.19:17 if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments. Then see Matt 28:18-20 teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the world (age). Amen. Best of all ( a passover scripture ) if you really love Jesus he says in " John 14:15 If you love Me, keep My commandments. We must love one another for Love is the fulfillment of the the law Rom.5:5 The Antichrist = The Lawless one. 2 Thess.2:3.

To Mr, 1127, Re: WHICH DAY IS THE SABBATH OF THE NEW TESTAMENT?
Now briefly let us look through the New Testament to find WHICH DAY Paul kept and taught Gentile converts to keep.

Notice which day Paul and Barnabas used for preaching to Gentiles:

(1) Acts 13:14-15, 42-44: "But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue ON THE SABBATH DAY, and sat down. And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on."

Then Paul stood up, and spoke, preaching Christ to them. "And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the GENTILES besought that these words might be preached to them THE NEXT SABBATH."

Now since Paul was preaching "the grace of God" (verse 43), here was his opportunity to straighten out these Gentiles, and explain that the Sabbath was done away. Why should he wait a whole week, in order to preach to THE GENTILES on THE NEXT SABBATH? If the day had now been changed to Sunday, why did not Paul tell them they would not have to wait a week, but the very next day, Sunday, was the proper day for this service? But notice what Paul did.

"And the NEXT SABBATH DAY came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God." Here Paul waited a whole week, passing up a Sunday, in order to preach to the GENTILES on the Sabbath day.

Jesus said He was Lord of the SABBATH, and if He is LORD of that day, then it belongs to Him, and is His day, and therefore the Sabbath is the Lord's Day (Mark 2:28). Isaiah 58:13 calls the Sabbath (the seventh day of the week) "MY HOLY DAY." God is speaking. So the Sabbath is THE LORD'S DAY.

In the original commandment, in Exodus 20:10, we read: "The seventh day is the sabbath OF THE LORD THY GOD." Not MY day, or your day. Sunday is MY day. So is Monday, and every other weekday, for my labor and my own needs. But the seventh day is NOT mine - it is THE LORD'S! It belongs to HIM, and He made it HOLY, and commanded us to KEEP it that way. We have no right to use it for ourselves. It is HIS DAY! God commanded The Sabbath FOREVER Ex.31:17 and He Changes NOT Malachi 3:6 and is the same yesterday today and forever. Heb.13:8 and that settles which day is the Christian Sabbath. Happy Sabbath and Gods Love Grace and Peace to all of the brethren every day Amen.

The spirit of anti-christ is within the Church. A false church developed after the death of Yeshua (31 a.d. to 2012). Yeshua's message was the Kingdom or Government of God (his God). The idea of being 'born again' is an awareness of one's own eternal spirit and being. The Church's idea of being 'saved' was not the message of Yeshua (Jesus). We all are 'part of the problem' (sinners)from the viewpoint of God Almighty. None are righteous in the 'sight' of God Almighty. What the Church does is 'play' God. This mindset is part of the 'spirit' of anti-christ. The Anti-Christ promotes a man (Yeshua or Jesus) as God...not realizing that the messenger (Yeshua) did not view himself as God). The ucg organization needs to rethink their theology if they desire to be part of the Kingdom. That is my view.

Greetings Donaldswenson, thank you for your reply. I think you will agree our Creator is a God of Love and unity and the source of truth and light. I find ucg seminars soothing and helpful but you raise the question of Yeshua being God Almighty. I didn't think this pod taught that Yeshua was such. However the spirit has asked me to consider all the different factions of Christianity all claiming to be RIGHT and opposing one another. The Lord has shone light from Revelations and Jude vs 24 "Now the one who is able to guard YOU from stumbling and to set YOU unblemished in the sight of His Glory and to bring Great Joy. To the only God our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord be Glory, Majesty, Might and Authority for all past eternity and now and into all eternity. Amen. Jesus was and always will consider himself obedient and in subjection to His Amighty Father whom he loves and who loves all who recognise and follow the example given by Jesus. It is my consideration that as Christians are divided; Truth and Light is obscure. That being the case how can Christian believers expect people of other Nations to see God's Glory and accept the Truth respecting the heavenly arrangement?

God has made a covenant both with the sons of Ishmael with the nation of Israel and with the people of the nations who obey the commandments and love justice. The whole world does lie in the power of the wicked one. Jews, Christians, Muslims and Zionists are fighting with each other over the building of a temple in Israel. Who has the right to do so? Let us ask God. Micah 3:9;10 Hear, please, this YOU head ones of the house of Jacob and you commanders of the house of Israel, the ones detesting justie and the ones who make even everything that is straight crooked; building Zion with acts of bloodshed and Jerusalem with unrighteousness. etc...

John received a vision Revelation 1:17 seeing the vision of the resurrected Son in Greatness and Glory John fell as dead 'til Jesus laid his right had upon John and encouraged him not to be fearful saying he was the First and the Last, and the living one who holds the keys of death and Hades. Meaning Jesus has power over death and destruction. I would not expect Muslim people or people of other cultures and religions to understand these things because even Christians and Jews don't know and understand the love of God and Christ.

Wow Gentlemen! Are we watching a CSPAN presentation of the House of Representatives or what?

God our Father understands our human nature and our problem. When our 1st two parents made their choice (they and us are given freewill) they made the wrong choice. So now with live in a world with Satan at the helm.

God had to destroy the surface of the earth for a second time because of great evil that Satan filled the earth with the actions of we people (our ancestors). So we begin again with Noah, his family, and the creators that traveled with them on the ark.
Now, here we go again. Now what?! Nimrod. Since our God knows us already; He comes to check us out. Not again; He says so to speak. Ok! We have to confuse the languages. Why? Because He has a time table of events that will come to pass. He is not a liar. He is true to His word. He does fulfill His prophescies.

Therefore when He says there will be an anti-christ and false religions that has been going on since before the flood. We are to make ourselves ready. We need to crackdown on ourselves and change our hostile human nature within. How in the world do you expect to enter into the Kingdom of God in the Millenium if all you do is spend your time fighting over an issue about the anti-christ over and over again?
Get with the program here. There isn't alot of time left to fill your lamps with oil. The word will be hard to find and so will the LORD. Jesus himself said that anti-christ was already in existance during his time. It's just spreading more and more each day.
If we stay close to God our Father, He will help us to see. There is an old song that we sing with lyrics like this: "fight the good fight brethren". In other words. Keep the candle burning and don't snuff it out.

I am with UC on this one. Much of the UCG stuff is soo watered down that it is just not helpful. It was a good starting point for someone stepping out of the mainstream Christian belief into the truth, but has quickly become a source which prompts more questions rather than provides answers.

History has shown that Matthew 24 has been fullfilled with the sun, moon, stars and earthquake.

Revelation 17 gives us several points to identify who the Beast is and a quick look at history finds us staring at a power that existed (for a time, times and a dividing of time), lost power and is now a major world power again (with both church and state status); has persecuted the followers of Christ, has documented themselves speaking against the Most High and has changed times and laws, claims to be god on earth and christ on earth.

Between Daniel and Revelation, history and current times there are many points that show Papal Rome is the home of the Anti-Christ power and that they are fast working toward their enforcement of Sunday laws. Once God showed me who that power was, things came open and I can see how the whole world truly does wonder after the Beast.

The evidence is there and we can be scared to make a "prediction" or we can look at what history shows us and what the Word of God shows us and see what it shows us. Not everything in revelation is a "future event". Many, many things folks assume are going to happen have indeed already happened.

I believe we should go deeper than stopped short on 1 Jn:2:18, when we can read further down on verse 19: “they went out from us…”, “US” – THE CHURCH OF GOD. The Jamieson, Faussett, Brown Commentary states that “out from us – from our Christian Communion. Not necessarily a formal secession or going-out…” So these antichrists were with in the Church themselves. Obviously, there was heresy going-on within the Church then (1 Cor:11:19) and has also its spiritual fulfillment in the end time. A case in point, look at what happened to the former Worldwide Church of God, when radical doctrinal changes where subtly introduced by the new leadership of the Church after Mr. H.W. Armstrong’s death, it resulted into splintering into various off-shoot churches. This apostasy, “the falling away” (2 Thes:2:3), occurred when the man of sin, the son perdition (the AntiChrist) sits on the Temple of God (GOD’s CHURCH!, read: 1 COR 3:16-17; 2 COR 6:16; 1 COR 6:19) and was revealed after HWA’s death, the one who obviously hindered them (antichrists) when he was still alive. Of course, there will still be a future physical (religio-politico) fulfillment of the AntiChrist.

Steve, why dont you guys face the truth and spit it out instead of going around the corner...Its so clear that the Pope is the Antichrist..The papal system is the one who go against the teaching of Jesus..Why people go to their priests and confess their sins to,instead of God..When you sin you sin against God and God only can forgive sins. Why they call the pope holy father, thats the place of God only,he is our Holy father only. They also call the pope God on earth or the Vicar of Christ on earth..pls be real with bible and speak the truth or youll hear this very doom word from Jesus himself saying"Depart from me for I do not know you".The Pope and the Paypal system is the AntiChrist because they have changed the Law of God and they have deceived the whole world,c'mon guys, study your words prayerfully and ask God to teach you
