It’s been a colder winter than usual where we live in the Carolinas… we’ve had some snow and temps well below freezing at various times.

Walking around my backyard one recent evening, I noticed that the leaves were off most of the trees, even some that had hung on for most of the winter were falling. The breeze was soft and gentle, the temperatures were ever so much warmer than just a few days before and a few flowers were beginning to push their way up through the ground. Indeed, the change of seasons is there to remind us all that nothing is sure in this life but change.

The famous verses of Ecclesiastes come to mind…

"To everything there is a season, a time to every purpose under heaven…,” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-11).

One of the blessings of a change of seasons is that we are reminded to reflect on how we, too, should be constantly changing, for the better.

The more we seek God, repent, and try to live as He would have us, the more we should see that change is indeed a very good thing.

In our hustle-bustle lives, we often forget to take time to look at the world around us. Stop, take it all in, and realize that there is good, bad and in-between.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end,” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

In verse 11 we see that apart from God, we are unable to figure out the beginning from the end. We are unable to figure out which changes are good, and which changes are bad… although we might like to think we can do it easily without God… and many try, with tragic results.

So, as we feel the warmth of the Spring air (when it finally arrives in various parts of the globe), and watch the natural beauty of change all around… take a moment to ponder, meditate, and muse on what areas of your life need changing… for the better, and then seek God to live within you to help you do just that.

Your message is all the more appreciated since this winter has been harder than usual in these parts. And I love the splash of floral color - perfect picture for your blog!
