A Better Way to Make War on Terror

The better War on Terror isn't fought with guns and bombs or with political contention. It's fought in the spiritual battlefield of the human mind. It's fought with truth from the BibleThe books (Greek, "biblia" ) that are acknowledged as canonical (authoritative) by the early Christian Church. It includes both the books of the ancient Hebrew prophets and those of the apostolic witnesses to Jesus Christ..

The war in Iraq! It's in the news every day. It has led America to a state of internal division not experienced since its last days in Vietnam.

Bitterness flowing between the legislative and executive branches of government threatens to paralyze America's efforts to address its other national issues. In February the US House of Representatives voted along party lines to drastically limit funding of America's War on Terror, specifically in Iraq. In the middle of April the U.S. Senate voted just like the House, right down party lines.

Yet, America—aided to an extent by Great Britain—finds itself at the zenith of its military power. From the human perspective she clearly took a dynamic stand against the forces of terror and evil in 2001.

But the war is now five years old, a long war by American standards. Does the US have the will to win that War on Terror? That issue is at the heart of the current American political battle.

Another issue should also be included in this muddled political debate. A large portion of the American and the British people are descendants of the ancient biblical tribe of Joseph (details are explained in our free booklet, The United States & Britain in BibleThe books (Greek, "biblia" ) that are acknowledged as canonical (authoritative) by the early Christian Church. It includes both the books of the ancient Hebrew prophets and those of the apostolic witnesses to Jesus Christ. ProphecyA prediction of events to come. "A discourse emanating from divine inspiration and declaring the purposes of God, whether by reproving and admonishing the wicked, or comforting the afflicted, or revealing things hidden; esp[ecially] by foretelling future events" (Revised Thayer's Greek English Lexicon, "Propheteia"). ).

God warned all of the tribes of ancient Israel that if they disobeyed His laws, which define a godly way of life, He would bring on them a life of trouble. He warned them, "I will even appoint terror over you ... I will break the pride of your power" (Leviticus 26:16, 19).

How to deal with terror is the central issue in America's current political battles. Loss of the national will to fight the War on Terror would signal a serious deterioration of pride in US power on the world scene.

That sounds ominous. And it is! Losing the will to win is a serious and often dangerous consequence of poorly informed choices. But then there's another side to this coin. Should America completely win this War on Terror will that bring perpetual world peace?

No! In man's way of living, one war won simply means one more war to come. That's because we humans are selfish and greedy by nature (James 4:1-3). Also, there exists a devious, destructive and deceptive devil who cleverly takes advantage of the selfishness in our nature.

So how would you like to participate in a better way to wage war on terror? How would you like to strike a blow for true freedom and everlasting world peace?

No platitude, just fact. Knowing all too well the way of man, Jesus Christ said, "If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight ... but now My kingdom is not from here" (John 18:36).

Christ is going to return to earth and take over the world, ruling all nations for 1000 years, on the way to eternity. The better War on Terror isn't fought with guns and bombs or with political contention. It's fought in the spiritual battlefield of the human mind. It's fought with truth from the BibleThe books (Greek, "biblia" ) that are acknowledged as canonical (authoritative) by the early Christian Church. It includes both the books of the ancient Hebrew prophets and those of the apostolic witnesses to Jesus Christ.—summarized as the gospel of the Kingdom of God, the message that Jesus Himself preached (Mark 1:14-15).

Right now Jesus Christ, the great MessiahA Hebrew word meaning literally "anointed one," synonymous with the Greek word christos, translated Christ. "In ancient Israel both persons and things consecrated to sacred purposes were anointed by having oil poured over them ... The Israelites did not think of crowning a king but of anointing him when he was enthroned ... [The future Messiah] is to destroy the world powers in an act of judgment, deliver Israel from her enemies, and restore her as a nation. The Messiah is the King of this future kingdom to whose political and religious domination the other nations will yield. His mission is the redemption of Israel and His dominion is universal. This is the clear picture of the Messiah in practically all of the OT passages which refer to Him" (The Zondervan Pictorial Bible Dictionary, "Messiah")., is looking for courageous men and women (old and young) who are ready to rid their minds of the twisted values and cunning deceptions of a nefarious devil. He is looking for faithful, spiritual soldiers to help spread His true gospel and prepare a people for His coming—which may be soon.

Compared to human alternatives, this is a much, much better War on Terror. It is one that Jesus Christ, with His carefully selected "called, chosen and faithful" assistants (RevelationThe disclosure of God's Word and plan to mankind. In the Bible this refers to making obscure things clear; bringing hidden matters to light; causing especially called individuals to see, hear, perceive, know and understand the things of God; the unveiling of biblical mysteries (Romans 16:25). 17:14), is certain to win.
