Some members of the nation's political leadership have set terrible examples of integrity. Political corruption is not restricted to the America. It is a worldwide problem.
The recent resignation of another American congressman, Rep. Mark Foley, over his sexually explicit internet messages to young male pages, has made U.S. voters more cynical of its congressional candidates. Beginning with Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham's tearful resignation, another year of corruption and scandals, both sexual and financial, has plagued the U.S. Congress.
Some members of the nation's political leadership have set terrible examples of integrity. Instead of pursuing what's best for the country gifts, paybacks and bribes too often have been the deciding factors in the way votes have gone. There is growing disappointment and distrust of congressional leaders. A recent NBC poll put congress's approval rating at only 16% (NBC Nightly News, October 18, 2006).
Political corruption is not restricted to the America. It is a worldwide problem. Brutal and corrupt dictators have bled much of the continent of Africa of its resources. At this moment a horrible genocide continues in the Sudan that the world seems powerless to stop. There is no way to measure the terrible suffering that cruel, corrupt despots have brought on humanity down through history.
The black gold of several Arab countries has mostly benefited only a few powerful families. In his quest for power and wealth Saddam Hussein killed and estimated 2 million of his own people.
Asian countries have fared no better. The citizens of North Korea live in near starvation because of the policies of their ruler, President Kim Jong II. In July of this year, Ta Mok, one of the main leaders of Cambodia's brutal Khmer Rouge, died while awaiting trial for his part in the slaughter of several million under the direction of Pol Pot. The Hollywood movie "Killing Fields" depicts the horrors enacted upon those people in the 1970s.
The number of countries that have suffered at the hands of cruel and corrupt tyrants is growing. "Corruption is on the increase in a majority of countries around the world, according to a study by the global pressure group: Transparency International" (BBC, December 9, 2005, http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/4514112.stm ). In its 2004 Global Corruption report, Transparency International (TI) listed the Ten Most Corrupt Leaders.
Former President Suharto of Indonesia tops the list of the "World's Ten Most Corrupt Leaders" (Infoplease.com/ipa/A0921295.html ). " Suharto's alleged haul of $15-$35 billion in 31 years of rule, TI said, demonstrated how abuse of power undermines the hopes... of developing countries. Close behind is Zaire's Mobutu Sese Seko, who allegedly looted $5 billion. His haul, said TI, was particularly high in a country with an average GDP of just $100 a person. It amounted to 40% of the $12 billion in aid Zaire, now the Democratic Republic of Congo, received during his 32-year rule" (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/3567745.stm ).
The TI Global Corruption Barometer 2005 shows that the poor are the most affected. Often in order to get anything done or even to travel, they have to bribe petty officials. People in Africa appeared to pay the most in bribes, the report found, with Cameroon, Ghana and Nigeria the worst. Households in these three countries spend more than 20% of their income on paying bribes, the survey found.
A change is coming! The prophet Ezekiel speaks of God's anger against the leaders who are interested only in empowering and enriching themselves (Ezekiel 34:9-28 [9] Therefore, O ye shepherds, hear the word of the LORD;
[10] Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more; for I will deliver my flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them.
[11] For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out.
[12] As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.
[13] And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country.
[14] I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel.
[15] I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord GOD.
[16] I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment.
[17] And as for you, O my flock, thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I judge between cattle and cattle, between the rams and the he goats.
[18] Seemeth it a small thing unto you to have eaten up the good pasture, but ye must tread down with your feet the residue of your pastures? and to have drunk of the deep waters, but ye must foul the residue with your feet?
[19] And as for my flock, they eat that which ye have trodden with your feet; and they drink that which ye have fouled with your feet.
[20] Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD unto them; Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat cattle and between the lean cattle.
[21] Because ye have thrust with side and with shoulder, and pushed all the diseased with your horns, till ye have scattered them abroad;
[22] Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between cattle and cattle.
[23] And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant DavidKing of Israel, killed the giant Goliath with a sling and stones, a man after God's own heart, only turned from God in the matter of Uriah the Hittite (1 Kings 15:5), had an affair with Bathsheba, Messiah would come from line of David, main author of Psalms and highly musical.; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.
[24] And I the LORD will be their God, and my servant DavidKing of Israel, killed the giant Goliath with a sling and stones, a man after God's own heart, only turned from God in the matter of Uriah the Hittite (1 Kings 15:5), had an affair with Bathsheba, Messiah would come from line of David, main author of Psalms and highly musical. a prince among them; I the LORD have spoken it.
[25] And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods.
[26] And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing.
[27] And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them.
[28] And they shall no more be a prey to the heathen, neither shall the beast of the land devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and none shall make them afraid.

He promises to send Jesus Christ to intervene in the near future to remove them from their positions of power and replace them with righteous rulers who care for the welfare of the people. " I will set up shepherds over them who will feed them; and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, nor shall they be lacking," says the LORD (Jeremiah 23:4And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.

God plans to permanently resolve the world's leadership crisis and its impact on all humanity. "He will bring justice to the poor of the people; He will save the children of the needy, and will break in pieces the oppressor ... He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and ... to the ends of the earth ... Yes, all kings shall fall down before Him; all nations shall serve Him. For He will deliver the needy when he cries, the poor also, and him who has no helper. He will spare the poor and needy, and will save the souls of the needy. He will redeem their life from oppression and violence; and precious shall be their blood in His sight" (Psalm 72:4He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.
