Little Rock, Arkansas, Fun Show Entertains and Delights

After services and a potluck meal on the evening of Feb. 4, the Little Rock congregation sponsored a gratifying fun show. The 23 skits, songs and poems performed by kids from 7 to 70 (or so) lasted about an hour and a half. Besides being entertaining, humorous and just plain fun, there were a few moments of near-panic by our sound man that were thrown in to make it more exciting. Lynn Hendrix, Jim Simkins and Jean Howdeshell performed several songs from “Fiddler on the Roof.” There were also some funny skits, including one where Larry Smith alternately imitated John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart, assisted by his wife Kelly. Amanda Waltrip sang the “Lord’s Prayer,” and Mitch Haynes read poetry he had written. Gabrielle Waltrip sang pitch-perfect acappella. Others including Kaylin and Austin White, Destiny Waltrip, Ellie and Emma Horn, Miranda Elmore, and Liz Harris who sang with recorded or piano accompaniment.  Our pianist, Trudean Tedford, sang and accompanied several acts. It was all woven together in a complementary manner by our master of ceremonies, Lonnie Blankenship. All of this and free popcorn served by Trish Farnsworth helped make a truly enjoyable fun show.
